Bad news for those needing medical care (and those providing it), Chi-town’s prolific robbery crews found pedestrians new Rush Hospital and Stroger Hospital great candidates for armed robbery victims.

For those worried that this might impact the filming of Chicago Med, which shoots their exterior shots at Rush University Medical Center, they do most of their work at Cinespace Chicago Film Studios.  So once the acting and production crews safely make it to work, they can work with little worry of gang violence and gunfire.

They are on their own when off the secure Cinespace property though.

CHICAGO — At least five people were robbed at gunpoint during a ten-minute robbery spree in the Medical District this morning. Earlier, a would-be carjacker’s handgun fired when he struck a victim in the head with it in West Town, according to Chicago police.

This morning’s crime spree began around 8:45 a.m. in the 1700 block of West Harrison. Two women were walking near Rush Hospital when two masked men stepped out of a stolen car with guns to rob them.

The car, a black Kia SUV with a broken rear side window, was reported stolen yesterday, according to CPD records.

Similar robberies involving the same vehicle were soon reported outside Stroger Hospital, near Polk and Oakley, and in the 800 block of South Wolcott.

  1. Who watches TV any longer? They could wipe out the whole cast of all of those Chicago shows and I wouldn’t miss a night’s sleep. Dated a girl who loved the shows. Between TV and Facebook, sometimes both at once, she didn’t have time for me or a conversation.
