The horrendous body count in Illinois strictest gun control city continues to mount this holiday weekend.

Six dead.  Seventeen shot.  [LOL.  Sorry for the “sex dead” typo.]

Probably more dead and wounded since this story was published.

CHICAGO (WLS) — At least 17 people have been shot over the Memorial Day weekend, and six of them died.

The most recent victim was a man shot on the Near North Side just before 3 a.m. Sunday. Chicago police say the 42-year-old victim was shot in the head in the 1000-block of North Branch Street.

  1. Will this type of gun violence decrease with CCW or is it mostly related to gangs?

  2. And it was chilly this weekend. Had it been in the 90’s, you could have easily doubled that body count.

  3. Rahm, who do you think shot those 17 people ??? Do you think law abiding people who are trying to be able to exercise our 2 Nd. Amendment rights did it ?? Or do you think maybe someone who possesses a firearm illegally. Did it ??? Is it a ” who dun it “. To you ?? Do you think if some of these people would have had a concealed carry permit they could have defended themselves or even held the bad guy til the police arrived and maybe tonite you would know WHO DUNN IT

  4. It’s always the same crowd in the same neighborhoods. No bloodbath in little Italy, no massacre in Chinatown, do the math.
The majority is dirtbag on dirtbag crime.

  5. The last time I heard any stats, about 85% of murders go unsolved in Chicago. There are effectively no real consequences for murder in Chicago. I realize the reasons are complex, and include Police staffing issues, out of control gang violence and the community not cooperating with Police.

CCW will make it safer for law abiding citizens and visitors to Chicago. However, I think the overall Chicago murder rate won’t improve until Rahm, et al build some trust with the community and get a handle on the gang problem.
