Matthew Bracken penned a remarkable piece posted at Western Rifle Shooters.

Yeah, it’s a little long, but superbly written.

A little red meat for red-blooded Americans and a not-so-subtle warning for blue-blooded Americans.

The money shot:

…The unintended consequences of this misguided utopian fool’s crusade to ban guns would include a second civil war as agonizingly painful as the first one, if not more so, since there would be no front lines and no safe areas for anybody, anywhere. Every sane American wants to prevent such a calamitous outcome as a “dirty civil war” on United States soil.

But know this: those tens of millions will never be quietly disarmed and then later forced at government gunpoint onto history’s next boxcars. If boxcars and detention camps are to be in America’s future, then you, Mr. Security Agent, will have to disarm them the hard way first. Not Piers Morgan, not Michael Moore, not Rosie O’Donnell, not Dianne Feinstein, not Chuck Schumer.

You.

Bracken doesn’t mention it, but I certainly will.

Not only will the families of gun owners be at risk of death at the hands of jack-booted thugs, but so will the families of the jack-booted thugs.

Not all gun owners will wait for the jack-boot’s door-knocker or the subsequent flash bangs if a time comes to America where rogue agents are kicking doors looking for guns that were perfectly legal to own to defend your home and family from violent attack in 2012.

Let’s just hope public servants remember their oaths and, as Bracken writes, all will be well.

  1. An interesting piece. Unless it is an intentional provocation, they are not stupid enough to attempt a mass confiscation. They will pick people up on gun violations over many years and they will do so selectively. At the risk of angering my better half, I’m going to cite Ayn Rand:

“The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.”

  2. Thank you for the suggestion, John.

On another note, I’m back in the dog house, which means no high capacity ‘clips’ or ‘high-powered military-style semi-automatic assault weapons of mass destruction’ for me. It may be a good thing though, as the prices are bound to drop by the time I’m paroled to the sofa.

  3. This is as serious as a heart attack. There is no hyperbole here, and folks who dismiss this as “will never happen” need to get with the program. There’s nothing magic about today’s America that will keep this from happening unless WE keep it from happening. Wake up the fence sitters, push the apathetic hunters that think their guns are safe, and scream from the rooftops to get people thinking right on this issue. Call your congress-critters! Support NRA/ISRA/GSL et al! Spread the word and motivate others!

When it comes to law enforcement, we need them to speak up and get vocal about this too. I urge every one of you to reach out to LEO/military/alphabet soup fed that you know and ask them if they have signed up as Oath Keepers (oathkeepers.org). Will they take a stand and pledge NOW that they will NOT obey those 10 commands listed on the web site? Will they openly claim, right now!, that they will never disarm Americans – no matter the knee jerk law or unlawful executive order? Hushed talk behind closed doors that “it’ll never happen” isn’t enough right now.

It’s in everybody’s best interest to never let it get to “the decision point” – do they take the first step in a dirty civil war? Do they walk away from the job and lose their livelihood? Do they end up warring with their brothers in blue who do take steps against the civilian population? Do they just “follow orders” and take the side of evil?

Better to join the fray now on the side of what is good and right and add their voices to those trying to uphold the constitution then ever let it get to “the decision point”!
