You can almost hear the reporter’s tears as they wrote the news of a Biden-appointed federal judge blocking New Mexico Governor Grisham’s unconstitutional suspension of the 2nd Amendment in a decision issued Wednesday. It was a landmark win for gun rights and sent a clear message to other would-be tyrants (cough, JB Pritzker for instance) not to try the same stunt.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A federal judge has blocked part of a public health order that suspended the right to carry guns in public across New Mexico’s largest metro area, with criticism mounting and political divides widening over the Democratic governor’s action.
The ruling Wednesday by U.S. District Judge David Urias marks a setback for Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.
The second-term governor imposed an emergency public health order Friday that suspended the right to openly carry or conceal guns in public places based on a statistical threshold for violent crime that applied only to Albuquerque and the surrounding area. She cited recent shootings around the state that left children dead, saying something needed to be done.
Urias, who was appointed to the federal bench by President Joe Biden, agreed Wednesday with plaintiffs who have accused Lujan Grisham of trampling on constitutional rights. Urias granted a temporary restraining order to block the governor’s suspension of gun rights until another hearing is held in early October.
Mark Smith from Four Boxes Diner covered the hearing. He said the governor’s attorney offered up “weak tea.” “It was something I’d expect to see in the op-ed pages of a newspaper and not in a court of law,” he said.

We need every top voice in and for the 2A community highlighting that police in NM didn’t want to enforce the gun ban because officers were afraid they would be personally yes, PERSONALLY sued for violating civil rights. That is only possible because New Mexico got rid of qualified immunity for police. That means the one thing that cuts gun control and violations against constitutional rights off at the knees (qualified immunity) has got to go. Where would the GOP stand on this?? They are FOR qualified immunity and therefore no longer the party that gun owners can depend on for rights. Some political realignments are now required if we are going to secure our rights. Dems certainly aren’t it. Withdrawal of support to the Uniparty is the answer until they learn. Illinois isn’t a swing state so this is the place to punish the GOP for betrayal!

In addition discussion of rights delayed being rights denied citing NYT vs United States and another I can’t currently recall. Far ranging GOOD 2A implications in pending and future 2A litigation. INCLUDING our cases here in IL.
