On Saturday night into Sunday morning, hundreds of young black males rampaged in downtown Chicago. Yes, downtown Chicago – the very heart of tourism and retail “destinations.” Increasingly it’s not a whole lot safer than the rest of the crime-ridden city.
The feral mobs accosted tourists and residents alike. They robbed people, danced on top of cars and buses and committed all manner of criminal damage to property and mayhem. If you guessed shots were fired and people got fresh gunshot wounds, you would be correct.
Yes it all went down in the very same city that will host the Democratic National Convention in August 2024, when all eyes will be upon the city. If Saturday even stands as any indicator when what will happen with warmer weather under a “Let’s Go” Brandon Johnson city, Lord help anyone foolish enough to work, shop or visit downtown Chicago as tourists.
Saturday’s “entertainment” for the group began early in the evening. Large groups of young people converged downtown. It didn’t take long before things grew out of control and the “entertainment” began – at the expense of taxpayers, residents and tourists, of course.

Not only did they stomp cars and bust windshield, they also beat some of the drivers. Welcome to Chicago, folks.

A woman whose car was smashed by people jumping on the windshield said her husband was beaten as he sat in the driver’s seat. He’s been taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Police were escorting tourists and others back to their cars in the Millennium Park garage.
The crowd was trying to get into Millennium Park, but there are checkpoints around the perimeter and people under 21 are not allowed without an adult.
This is the second time this weekend that a group of rowdy teenagers has prompted a police response. On Friday night, hundreds of kids went to 31st Avenue Beach, and a 14-year-old was shot.
And as darkness fell completely, things continued to devolve as crowds grew larger and more violent.

In the end police had to escort people in Millennial Park to their parking garage to protect them from the marauding youths as one mob tried to get into Millennium Park and another tried to force entry on the Art Institute.

Clearly, the only reason these people were out of control was because the SAFE-T Act has been held up by the Illinois Supreme Court. Because if it was in effect, Chicago would no doubt be a bucolic paradise and a crown jewel of successful Democratic party governance.
