suppress

Good news, folks.  Iowa is poised to get suppressors this year.

The next time you call or write your elected Rep or Senator here in Illinois, ask them to support suppressors for us as well.

From NRA-ILA:

Today, House File 2279, the Hearing Protection Act, passed its final vote in the Senate with an overwhelming 46-4 bipartisan vote.  As previously reported, HF 2279 was amended by the Senate Judiciary Committee, but the amendment was favorable and did not change the original intent of the bill.  Due to this amendment, HF 2799 must now head back to the House for a final concurrence vote.  If the House votes to concur on HF 2279, Iowa will become the 42nd state to allow for the sale, use and possession of firearm sound suppressors.  For those of you in Iowa:  Please contact your state Representative and politely urge him or her to vote to concur on the amended version of House File 2799.

Suppressors help increase accuracy by reducing felt recoil and shot “flinch.”  Beginners to shooting sports adhere to a quicker learning curve on average because the muffled sound equates to increased focus and concentration on proper shooting mechanics.  Most importantly, suppressors reduce shooters’ risk of hearing damage, which can occur when discharging a firearm without the proper hearing protection.  In addition, suppressors can help reduce noise complaints from neighbors, particularly in more densely populated areas.

  1. Unfortunately, the only time we see them being used in TV shows/movies is when a crime is being committed. This gives the public a distorted and unhealthy view of what they are and can be used for.

Now it’s time for Illinois to catch up to Iowa…AGAIN!
