Florida has the lowest recorded rate of firearm violent crime in that state’s history.  It also has 10-20-Life sentencing enhancements for the criminal misuse of firearms.  Carry a gun while committing a violent crime, you get an extra ten years added to your sentence.  No parole, probation or plea bargaining.  It’s hard time.  Felon in possession of a gun?  Add another three years.

In Chicagoland, you can catch 43 arrests and be a felon in possession of a gun and hurt a cop resisting arrest and be out on the streets to victimize your fellow citizens in a baker’s dozen months, not a baker’s dozen years.

It reminds us of those three thugs who committed the drive-by shooting with two handguns and an AR-15 style rifle in Chicago – aka Murder City USA.  They fired dozens of shots, wounded two and were caught after a police chase.  Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez charged them with a Class 4 felony, Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons…  punishable by 1-3 years in prison upon conviction.

Man killed in gunfight with Chicago police had long rap sheet

Chicago (Tribune) – Three Chicago police officers were shot Monday night by a reputed gang member who had been arrested more than 40 times since the 2000s for offenses ranging from drug dealing to violence against law enforcement, police said.

The officers fatally shot 29-year-old Lamar Harris during a brief gunbattle when they chased him into a dark courtyard outside an apartment building in the West Side’s Homan Square neighborhood, police said. The officers had been investigating Harris, a reputed member of the Vice Lords, for “possible narcotics activity” when the shooting occurred shortly before 10 p.m., authorities said.

…Harris’ criminal history includes 43 arrests going back to at least 2004, including five felony and two misdemeanor convictions, according to police and court records. His most recent felony conviction was in January 2012 for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and resisting a peace officer causing injury. Records show he was sentenced to four years in prison in that case.

  1. I’ll say it: TURD LIVES DON’T MATTER. Feel free to substitute “thug” for “turd”. 43 arrests in 12 years? Someone should have flushed this turd long ago, because he was never going to be productive in any sense of the word.

  2. OUR LIVES MATTER. Yes. All lives matter, not just black criminals’ lives. I will say that criminals’ lives matter is open for debate.

  3. No, criminals lives don’t matter. Not one little bit. Not when they pose a threat to innocent lives.

  4. They should have just tased him. He had a future. He was just turning his life around.
