HUGGING THUGS: Baltimore Democrat officials told cops to stand down

It’s hard to believe, but it’s true.

Police brass in Baltimore were told to order their officers to stand down and keep out of the way of violent mobs intent on looting, burning and creating chaos.

Wicomico County Sheriff Michael Lewis brought a bunch of his men and equipment to Baltimore to volunteer to assist the locals.  What he found was shocking:

“This was urban warfare, no question about it. They were coming in absolutely beaten down. The [city officers] got out of their vehicles, thanked us profusely for being there, apologized to us for having to be there. They said we could have handled this, we were very capable of handling this, but we were told to stand down, repeatedly told to stand down,” he said. “I had never heard that order come from anyone — we went right out to our posts as soon as we got there, so I never heard the mayor say that. But repeatedly these guys, and there were many high-ranking officials from the Baltimore City Police Department … and these guys told me they were essentially neutered from the start. They were spayed from the start. They were told to stand down, you will not take any action, let them destroy property. I couldn’t believe it, I’m a 31-year veteran of law enforcement. … I had never heard anything like this before in my life and these guys obviously aren’t gonna speak out and the more I thought about this, … I had to say a few things. I apologize if I’ve upset people, but I believe in saying it like it is.”

Not only that, but of the most egregious violent offenders who were arrested, county officials are releasing them in droves without charges.

Looks like the joke is on the law-abiding Baltimore residents who have jobs and are working hard to provide for their families.

Meanwhile, the New Black Panthers are busy whipping up the rhetoric, calling for violence to save a “black nation that is dying before our eyes.”

This Week on the New Black Panther Party’s “Black Power Radio,” national chairman Hashim Nzinga said since America has “declared war on us,” evidenced by “military police in the black neighborhood” protecting the rich, the New Black Panthers should be looked upon as Founding Fathers who declare war and are “willing to die or kill to save our babies and to save a black nation that is dying before our eyes.”

Nzinga said, “America is about protecting the rich and the powerful.”

He added, “We pay taxes. They have declared war on us and it’s nothing but state racism.”

And now that sources are saying that Freddie broke his own neck, we have no doubt the Black Grievance Industry, headed by Sharpton, Jackson, Obama and Holder will be casting doubt on the facts that don’t fit their faulty narrative…

…instead of urging healing and restraint.

It’s okay in the grand scheme of things.  These big-city, far left Democrats – the same ones who are so vociferous in their opposition to gun ownership for the “little people” – are acting as the world’s second-greatest gun salesmen*.  Democrats’ soft-on-crime attitudes are inspiring tens of thousands of non-gun owners to go out and buy guns for the first time.

People can see that when the going gets tough, the police may no be there to protect and defend you.

People also know that the only thing that stops bad people with evil in their hearts is a good guy with a gun.
