Once again, we see that the only thing that stops a bad person with evil in their heart is a good guy with a gun.
In Portland, a disgruntled man with no shortage of previous arrests thought he was going to “show them” after getting turned away from admission for being an obnoxious jerk. He returned wearing a Halloween mask and carrying a gun and opened fire.
He didn’t count on one of the customers in the bar pulling his own pistol and shooting him darn near dead right there.
Of course, Mom’s Demand Action (here’s a hint, girls: go to a strip club), the Kiddie-porn Mayors Against Guns, the Brady Campaign and Gabby Giffords and her hubby are nowhere to be found to explain to us how we would all be safer if the guy inside the club had been debarred the right to carry a firearm that night.
PORTLAND (KGW)– Police have identified the suspect in the shooting that left four people injured, including himself, at the Mystic Gentleman’s Club in Portland last weekend.
Investigators believe Thomas Elliott Hjelmeland, 43, fired the gun in the club. He remains in critical condition at a Portland hospital and has not yet been charged in this case.
Brian Rizzo, a 26-year-old security guard from the club, was hit by the gunfire at the front door and was also listed in critical condition at a local hospital. Patron Gonzalo Zamora-Hernandez, 31, and waitress Nichole Procter, 27, were treated and released with less serious injuries.
Owners of the strip club said Hjelmelandt was denied entry because of belligerent behavior and racist comments, then he returned half an hour later armed with a gun and wearing a scary Halloween mask.
The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. Saturday, when the gunman walked into the Mystic Gentleman’s Club at Southeast Stark Street and Southeast 99th Avenue and opened fire, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.
The shooter hit three people, prompting a person in the bar to return fire, hitting and critically injuring the suspect.
…The person who returned fire and hit the suspect was not arrested and was cooperating with police.
