CBS Chicago spiked a story of gang-bangers being hired at Chicago’s McCormick Place Convention Center as day laborers for the Print expo last week.
Now, for those who have little knowledge of McCormick Center, they have all sorts of rules and procedures to bilk exhibitors out of money. Lots of money. Everything has to be done by union laborers at astronomical billing rates.
Well, the laborers’ union must have been short on members, because according to the story, gang members hired to work there as day laborers went on a rampage, fighting one another and running berserk through the facility they were supposed to be laboring to set up.

CHICAGO (CBS) – A trade show exhibitor was hit with a 2×4 at McCormick Place on Thursday, and two other people were injured, when apparent gang members who had been hired as day laborers began brawling on a loading dock.
About 100 day laborers had been hired to close the Print 2013 expo on Thursday, and trade union members told CBS 2 some of those laborers were street gang members who began brawling on the loading dock.
One exhibitor was hit in the head with a 2×4, and two other people were injured in the brawl — either by a board with protruding nails, or by a knife.
The injured exhibitor was supervising the moving of the contents of a display booth at the time.
Sources said it’s the first time rival street gangs have been involved in a brawl at McCormick Place.
Police would not confirm gang involvement in the altercation, but said one of the people who was injured refused to cooperate with police, or identify his attacker, and was the subject of an arrest warrant himself.
So, exhibitors: Those laborers you are required to pay $50-75 an hour don’t just look like gang-bangers. They are gang-bangers.
And if they don’t like what you tell them, they may hit you upside the head with a 2×4 too.
So shut up, pay your bill and keep your mouth shut. It’s the Chicago way.
McCormick place is barely hangin on as a trade venue. Another reason Vegas and Orlando are taking the lead. The thieves and whores who run Chicago balance all this on tourists and conventioneers. People are tired of the graft!
