It would seem that Chicago’s sheeple are unable or unwilling to step up and get involved to put a stop to the mindless crime and violence in Chicago.

Credit where credit is due:  Second City Cop made the suggestion and we think it’s brilliant.

What’s spurred this?

A number of stories of out-of-town tourists, including a 15-year-old girl, stepping up to the plate to let thugs know that their behavior is anti-social and won’t be met without resistance.  In other words, a criminal’s worst nightmare of a victim or a bystander.

The most recent case:  A firefighter from Ontario, Canada was in Chicago as a tourist with his girlfriend.  He saw a young thug (one of Obama’s sons?) grab an elderly woman’s purse and take off.

Here’s what happened next:

“I grabbed him by the scruff of the neck,” said Gary Martin, 47, from London, Ontario. “He went down right away. He really didn’t have a whole bunch of fight in him. It wasn’t like an all-out brawl.”

Street trash usually doesn’t have a lot of fight in them when it’s anything close to a fair fight.  In fact, they are typically cowards.

We wrote a scathing piece yesterday saying that violence won’t change in Chicago until the residents there stand up to criminal thugs on their own.  Excerpt:

Criminal gangs run so wild in Chicago *because* the population is unwilling and unable to clean up their own neighborhoods and their own cities, and stand up to these bullying gangs.

By giving them the knowledge, skills and attitudes to defend themselves, their families and their homes from violent attack, using tools they have a Constitutional right to own and possess, they could turn things around in short order.

That, however, would involve them taking the initiative to stand up for themselves and exercise some self-reliance and self-determination instead of letting government look after them like they were helpless little toddlers or something.

  1. I can tell you for a fact that this thief is no stranger to handcuffs. Sources tell me he has over 200 arrests. WHY IS HE NOT IN PRISON/TREATMENT?

  2. The mindset of Chicago people is not hard to understand…The big issues that I’d expect the locals to have in mind when faced with an opportunity to act like citizens and stand up to criminals:

    1) he’s probably armed (or will be the next time I see him) and I’m not.
    2) if he’s a gang banger, I’m putting my family and myself in danger by resisting, and Law Enforcement/the courts can’t, won’t, don’t care to even try to protect me…and he’ll likely be back out on the street before I go to bed tonight…
    3) if my action puts this guy in jail, I’ll be looking over my shoulder for his gang-buds for the rest of my life.

Makes it easy to be a sheeple.

  3. What’s the statistic? Half the homicides in Chicago are never solved? Something along those lines…can’t find the exact number.
