Thought For The Day – Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely

by Fred Kubicek
Good Morning Everyone,

The Justice Department is not tyranny – The Justice Department trampling on 1st Amendment rights is tyranny!

The Internal Revenue Service is not tyranny – The Internal Revenue Service using it’s power for political purposes is tyranny!

The Executive Branch is not tyranny – The Executive Branch covering up blunders and then lying about it for political purposes is tyranny!

This also is tyranny. As noted by James Wesley Rawles, “eleven years ago, when the Department of Homeland Security was formed, we were promised that it would merely be an umbrella organization that would just coordinate the activities of existing agencies, and have no policing powers of of it’s own. Well, look at what it has become. With more than 230,000 employees, DHS is now the third largest Cabinet-level Federal department. DHS now has legions of cyber sniffers, blue-gloved crotch gropers, and asset seizers.”  And that is not even counting the 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition which can only be used by DHS on the ‘Homeland.’

Tyranny is always knocking at the door of our Republic. When politicians answer that door and invite tyranny in, they must be removed. Our job is to make sure that we elect individuals of character and integrity in the first place in order to lessen the chances that when they open that door to see who is there, they have the will power and strength to close it quickly before tyranny rushes in. Obviously we as Americans have not done a very good job of that lately.

For example, during the session of Congress which met in 1999
* 29 members of Congress have been accused of spousal abuse.
* 7 have been arrested for fraud.
* 19 have been accused of writing bad checks.
* 117 have bankrupted at least two businesses.
* 3 have been arrested for assault.
* 71 have credit reports so bad they can’t qualify for a credit card.
* 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges.
* 8 have been arrested for shoplifting.
* 21 are current defendants in lawsuits.
* And in 1998 alone, 84 were stopped for drunk driving, but released after they claimed Congressional immunity.

In addition to these facts, over 13 of Mayor Bloomberg’s anti gun group have been arrested for everything from child porn to gun violence.

As noted by Daniel Webster

“…our ancestors established their system of government on morality and religious sentiment. Moral habits they believed, cannot safely be trusted on any foundation other than religious principle, nor any government be secure which is not supported by moral habits… Let the religious element in man’s nature be neglected, let him be influenced by no higher motives than low self interest, and subjected to no stronger restraint than the limits of civil authority and he becomes the creature of selfish passion and blind fanaticism… On the other hand, the cultivation of the religious sentiment represses licentiousness… inspires respect for law and order, and gives strength to the whole social fabric at the same time that it conducts the human soul upward to the Author of its being.” One Nation Under God point # 59

In closing I wish to remind you that the 2nd Amendment is in place to protect us against tyranny. Just think, all of the things I have mentioned above occurred in spite of the fact that the 2nd Amendment is in place. Just imagine what it would be like if the 2nd Amendment becomes so restricted that it is meaningless!

One Last Thing Chris Matthews of MSNBC, the chief water boy for the Obama campaign who previously felt ‘a thrill going up my leg’ when listening to the President give a speech, last night complained bitterly about the  President’s performance over these past few months.  I am sure that you noticed that I referred to the ‘Obama Campaign’ as opposed to the ‘Obama Administration.’ Let’s face it folks how can anyone possibly say that the President is ‘Administering’ anything other than an old fashioned Chicago style political vendetta? While referring to the President, Matthews went so far as to say, “He doesn’t seem to like being an executive.? Dhaaaa, what would you expect from a ‘community organizer’ who never administered anything in his life?

That’s all for today,

Fred

  1. Think about this – there are only two bakers dozen things that the Federal Congress is empowered to do. And that’s generated 16 trillion dollars of debt.

It’s time to admit that nine robed kings corrupted this country by usurping powers not delegated to it which facilitated “allowing” the two other branches to also act outside their respective LIMITED EXPRESSLY authorities.

Slaughterhouse? Baron? Heck it goes back farther than that. Marbary. The court claims IT decides (judicial review). Ummm but that contradicts the Declaration of Independence. It SAYS that the ULTIMATE SOURCE if authority is the consent of the governed NOT the Supreme Court. We do not have one king (Obama). We have NINE (SCOTUS). And nothing changes for the better until people SEE that and then DEAL with it. .

  2. Fred: I’m new to this web sight and just now saw your article. are you a member of GSL? I’ve been thinking of joining. I’m from Chuckville, but haven’t seen you for a while. take care, and let me know if you are a member please. Garry Gandy
