While we’re still waiting for the groundswell of support for gun control the leftist gun-haters claim is out there.

(Reason) – Claiming support from nine out of 10 Americans, President Obama and former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) angrily urged the public to rise up in righteous fury and demand action. The results of a new poll by the Pew Research Center can be summed up as a three-word reply to such hopes: not gonna happen.

FoxNews is out with a new poll asking if Americans would want to have a gun in their home if armed, homicidal lunatics were roaming their naighborhood.

Seven in ten Americans want a gun in their hand if armed criminals are on the loose in their city.

(FoxNews) – On Friday, the nation watched as the Boston area went under lockdown during a manhunt for the armed and dangerous marathon bombing suspect.  If you were in that situation, would you want a gun at your side?

Most American voters say yes, according to a new Fox News poll.

Sixty-nine percent say if they were in a situation similar to Bostonians, they would want a gun in their house.

That includes a large 88-percent majority of those in gun-owner households, as well as 50 percent of those in non-gun homes.

Yes, HALF of the non-gun-owning households say they want a gun to protect themselves in event of armed criminals on the loose in their neighborhood.

In other words, half of America’s non-gun owning homes are ripe to make firearms purchases in the coming days, weeks and months.

We at Guns Save Life say this has already been happening these last six months or more, but especially since Sandy Hook and leftist efforts at taking away Americans’ ability to buy modern firearms that are well-suited to personal defense.  We cite empty store shelves at gun stores a month or two ago, and persistent empty shelves at ammo retailers through today.

Interestingly, the same FoxNews poll found the NRA, at a 50% approval rating, was still more popular with Americans than either the Democratic (44%) or the Republican Party (36%).  Of course, Congress rolls in with a 15% approval rating.  Keep that in mind the next time Gabby Giffords opens her mouth to use her regrettable misfortune as the target of an assassination by a madman as some sort of legitimacy to attack the NRA and promote restricting Americans’ Constitutionally-protected rights.

It’s not surprising that politicians targeted by Gabby Giffords’ Soros-funded gun control organization are pushing back against Giffords’ group without fear of supposed retribution from voters.

(Politico) – …In an interview in her office this week, the freshman Democrat defended the biggest vote of her young Senate career, when she joined with three other Democrats and most Senate Republicans to oppose expanding background checks during commercial gun sales.

“I think I always had a reputation as somebody who will listen, somebody who is pretty independent-minded but also believes that at the end of the day, you got to listen to your constituents,” Heitkamp said. “In this office, the calls literally were before the last day at least 7 to 1 against that bill. This was after a series of very extensive ad campaigns done in my state saying call me and tell me to support it.”

So much for Barack Obama’s claim that 9 in 10 Americans support gun registration schemes packaged as “background checks”.
