Lots of stuff out there the last dozen plus hours worthy of mention, but not worthy of a ton of blog entries.
Check these out:
FBI Crime Stats: You are more likely to be killed by hands and feet than by a shotgun or rifle

(Daily Caller) – The FBI has released their 2007-2011 “Murder Victims by Weapon” report. The results are contradictory to anti-gun industry claims that relaxing the ban on assault weapons will cause more crime.

The report indicates you are more likely to be killed by hands or feet than by a rifle or shotgun.

Since 2007 there has been a 16.2% decline in murders committed with personal weapons which are defined as “hands, fists, feet etc.” The number of murders of this type in 2011 totaled 728.

While gun ownership has dramatically increased since 2007, murders for both the shotgun and rifle categories have seen declines faster than the rate of personal weapons related crime.

The rates of decline for the shotgun and rifle categories are 22.1% and 28.7% respectively. In 2011 there were 356 shotgun murders and 323 rifle murders for a total of 679 murders.

Once again, looking at the numbers dispassionately, banning America’s favorite rifle serves no meaningful purpose other than satisfying the craving for “control” from freedom eschewing leftists.

EMILY MILLER:  Crimes of gun-grabbing mayors
(Washington Times) – Mike Bloomberg is on a mission to take away everyone’s guns. New York City’s billionaire mayor has bankrolled a coalition of municipal chiefs from coast to coast who tirelessly lobby for new laws restricting the rights of law-abiding gun owners. The irony is that many in his coalition of pedophiles, embezzlers, wife beaters, cheaters and violent thugs are no longer eligible to legally own a gun.

The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) on Monday detailed the crimes that have been committed by members of Mr. Bloomberg’s gang, Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG). In its research, SAF found a significantly higher rate of felonious activity among the mayors who teamed up with hizzoner than among the 8 million citizens who are licensed to carry concealed firearms.

“If Mayor Bloomberg wants to align himself with this criminal element of mayors to push for gun control, we think the public should know about it,” SAF Founder Alan M. Gottlieb told The Washington Times in an interview.

It’s nice to see the criminal escapades of the Bloomberg’s “kiddie porn mayors” against illegal guns (along with embezzler mayors against illegal guns) making it into the mainstream media.
Linoge at Walls of the City did a nice job with a headcount of criminal “problems” of Bloomberg’s ilk and it’s not pretty.  Furthermore, Linoge ran the numbers and found Tennessee Carry License holders were approximately six and a half times more law-abiding than members of Bloomberg’s Kiddie Porn Mayors group.

Based on those numbers, we may conclude that, since its inception in 2006, the Mayors Against Illegal Guns has suffered a total “failure rate” of 2.5%.

On the other hand, Tennessee currently has 340,066 active Handgun Carry Permits. “Court Ordered / Administrative Revocations” and felony convictions resulted in 108 revocations in 2010, 292 in 2009, 263 in 2008, 262 in 2007, and 200 in 2006. Averaging those numbers gives us 225 revocations per year, which is the number we will arbitrarily use for 2011.

Based on those numbers and that assumption, we may conclude that, since 2006, Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit holders have suffered a total “failure rate” of 0.40%.

In other words, based on similar time periods, Mayors Against Illegal Guns members are 6.3 times more likely to break the law than Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit holders.

It seems like there are many criminal members of Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns coalition who lobby Congress and the White House for more restrictions on law-abiding gun owners as a supposed solution to crime in their cities.A reader noticed the other day that a new mayor in Pennsylvania was recruited into the ranks, one with a history of violently assaulting women and police officers. In fact, local police have publicly opposed his involvement in public office because of his assault that left one officer with a permanent disability.

All of this information was available for Bloomberg’s MAIG recruiters to find well before they signed up Mayor Vaughn D. Spencer and touted his name & photo on their website, as evidenced by this article from the Reading Eagle in January of 2000.

…Here’s the relevant part of the story about the multiple violent attacks for which Spencer was accused and convicted:

In April 1986, police said, Spencer went to a home in the 900 block of the North Ninth Street and punched and kicked Carol Ann Parker, breaking her shoulder. Then-Patrolman Charlie Kaucher responded, and Spencer punched him and threw him from a porch, police said.In October 1987, Spencer pleaded guilty in county court to aggravated assault on Kaucher, a first-degree misdemeanor, and was sentenced to five years of probation.

Nine other charges were dismissed in exchange for the plea, records show.

Kaucher suffered head and other injuries and was left with permanent hearing loss.
