DAY 10: Social Distancing Extended. Presumed positive ER patients sent home. NO Martial Law… yet. But roadblocks are popping up.

March 30, 2020

Greetings and salutations.  Heard from a nurse working the ER at OSF St. Francis in Bloomington Sunday. She says they are seeing one to three dozen people each shift that they strongly believe are CV positive.  But because those people don’t answer all of the screening questions “just right,” the medical staff doesn’t summon...

Day 8: Martial Law Coming to IL?

March 28, 2020

It’s Day 8ish of Illinois Governor JB Pritzker’s “Shelter in Place” order – or whatever you want to call it.  The number of cases is going up each day in Illinois (duh!).  Most of the new confirmed Chinese virus patients are in Cook County. The good news is that while the anti-gunners would love...

APRIL 2020 GUNNEWS: Read this month’s issue of GunNews ONLINE here!

So, our volunteers who distribute GunNews each month are reporting that some locations are closed for the Chinese virus “shelter in place” that Illinois has implemented. With that in mind, and given how our members have received their copies in their mailboxes already (for the most part), the GSL Board has decided to release...

How Far Will Would-Be Tyrants Get Before America’s Gun Owners Say “Enough”

March 27, 2020

Politicians left and right both love to talk about how they support civil rights.  But when some get their hands on power, and an opportunity presents itself, they become heavy-handed, paternalistic little tyrants.  Yes, actions speak louder than words and some pols find that jackboots fit them quite well. Even before this new Chi-Com...

DAY 7: Transformative Times

March 27, 2020

‘Rona update.   The chyron says it all. It’s looking more and more like the Chi-com flu isn’t as deadly as earlier predictions claimed.  This is good news for America.  And bad news for the sensationalist media, the opportunist Democrats and the Chi Com government. In other words, while Hillary Clinton is calling...

DAY 6: Ammo approaching ‘Unobtanium’ in Chicagoland (except at MegaSports); More city PDs not responding to burglary, theft, assault calls

DAY 6: Ammo approaching ‘Unobtanium’ in Chicagoland (except at MegaSports); More city PDs not responding to burglary, theft, assault calls

It’s been a busy time considering the much of the nation, including Illinois, has shut down. Here’s the latest from my world: Ammo becoming unobtainium. Illinois gun retailers are considered “essential” by the Illinois State Police and the governor.  And business has been brisk.  Very brisk. Especially ammo sales. I’m getting word that ammunition...

GREEN BERET’S ADVICE: Focus on the NEXT FIVE MINUTES only.

March 25, 2020

A fabulous piece from FoxBusiness. by Chad Storlie The struggle I faced as the COVID-19 recommendations became school closings, “stay-at-home” orders, store closings, and zero social interactions was: how will I make it through the day? I have critical work responsibilities, a large team of now remote workers to lead, my wife is working from...

IDEAS: Stay healthy and avoid going stir-crazy at home

March 24, 2020

Increased time spent at home along with missed social interactions in the workplace, at Guns Save Life meetings and at church takes a lot of us out of our comfort zones. Here are some ideas on how to stay a little more “sane” in this time of at-home quarantine. Perhaps first and foremost is...

DAY 4: More cities adopt “Emergency” ordinances; Health care and masks; sit rep from the heart of flyover country

March 24, 2020

More and more Illinois communities are adopting “Emergency” powers ordinances.  And yes, many of those ordinances include giving Podunk town mayors the powers to ban the sale of gasoline, firearms and ammo and to “reallocate” critical goods. Normal, Illinois passed theirs Monday night.   Their meeting proved a trainwreck in that it violated the Illinois...
