Democrats have listened to their intuition. They have good reason to believe that the elections next year won’t go well for their party. With that in mind, they have moved to strike while they have their best chances of passing radical gun control upon the American people before next year’s elections. In short, they are seeking to ban all semi-automatic firearms and all magazines that hold over 10 rounds.
The scope of the bill is truly unprecedented and like nothing we’ve ever seen before.
What’s more is that Democrats introduced this bill when the US Supreme Court has ruled that the Second Amendment is not a second-class right any longer in the Bruen decision last summer.
With Democrats narrowly controlling the US Senate and only two votes from control of the House, this bill is not dead on arrival as it should be.
The good news is if this thing goes to on-the-record votes, it will cost Democrats some seats in the House and maybe a Senate seat or two. The bad news is that it will come perilously close to passage.

The latest push to curb Second Amendment rights comes in the form of a Democrat-led bill that seeks to impose a sweeping firearms ban with exceptions that gun rights groups say are so fuzzy that the prohibition could prohibit nearly all semi-automatic handguns.
The bill, dubbed the Gas-Operated Semi-Automatic Firearms Exclusion Act (GOSAFE) that a gun rights group panned as “perhaps the most sweeping gun prohibition bill of the 21st Century,” was introduced on Nov. 29 by a number of Democrat senators, along with an Independent—with no Republicans joining.
Generally, the key idea of the bill is to ban firearms that can be fired quickly (along with accessories that increase firing speed) and have the ability to accept magazines with a capacity of 10 rounds or more, all in a bid to limit “a firearm’s ability to inflict maximum harm in a short amount of time.”
Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), the bill’s co-sponsor, said in a statement that the measure seeks to keep “those firearms that are inherently dangerous and unusually lethal, designed for maximum harm, out of the hands of those who pose a threat to themselves or others.”

Pro 2A congressional members should add amendments to the bill that require all federal law enforcement / security agencies, excluding Marshals, Border Patrol, and Coast Guard (maybe include Bureau of Prisons, too) shall be disarmed as well. That’ll fetch a lot of no votes.

The constitution requires no “Ex post facto” laws, so the firearms in circulation remain out there. How do you prove you owned it prior to the ban, without a comprehensive registration system. If I understand it correctly the NICS only stores your approval, and rifle, pistol, shotgun or firearm. No model, or make is on database. Your purchase could be a break action 12 gauge, or an evil riot gun. It could be a “Sniper starter kit” bolt action, or an evil destructomatic fully semiauto, with the thing that goes up in the back.
