Chicago takes their Independence Day celebrations seriously. So do Chicago’s gang members and non-affiliated criminal class. They killed 13 in the city. 63 more were wounded, including one shot righteously by a concealed carry license holder he tried to rob. You have to love instant karmatic (is that a word?) justice.

8-10 years ago, this weekend along with the week at large was a lock for the most violent of the year. However, since the wheels came off in late May of 2020, it has become another lead-filled, mostly peaceful, often violent, occasionally unacceptable, and absolutely, 100% demonization-free weekend filled with silly decisions and poor life choices only with an extra day or two thrown in to pad the stats.
