For some people, not only don’t you need a gun, but I prefer you didn’t get one

A while back I wrote about various groups of people who need to own firearms. More recently, I saw an eye-opening Quinnipiac poll that got me thinking about people who really don’t need a firearm, and why we’d all be better off if they didn’t purchase one.

Now, remember, polling companies are very un-regulated; they never tell you what the refusal to answer rate was. They also sometimes do not divulge exactly how the question was phrased; that’s crucial, because shading the question shades the results.

The survey was conducted in March of 1,374 U.S. adults nationwide with a margin of error of +/- 2.6 percentage points. “Americans were asked what they would do if they were in the same position as Ukrainians are now: stay and fight or leave the country?” But that isn’t a question, and there’s much we don’t know. We don’t know exactly how the “question” was framed or how many more than 1,374 adults were called. We also do not know if adult non-US citizens were included in the poll. But it is what it is, and the important results are not exact percentages.

What is important is that I would argue if an adult would flee the country instead of fighting to defend her – while he has the right to own a firearm – I would prefer that he or she didn’t own a gun, and I’ll tell you why.

Overall, 55 percent say they would stay and fight, while 38 percent say they would leave the country. I do not know if the 38% have been so hurt in their lives that they are permanently scarred to where they will not defend themselves, their families, or friends and neighbors, or whether they have been taught in schools by “woke” teachers to hate the USA. It’s not important. For you 38% not only do you not need a gun, I prefer you did not acquire one. If your hate is this great, you are liable to shoot authority figures. If your hate is this great, you probably should not join the military either as your comrades-in-arms will have to pull your share of the load in addition to their own. Plus the military has really bad-ass weapons and you shouldn’t be around them, either.

Republicans say 68 – 25 percent they would stay and fight. For the 25% that would not, I’m assuming some have religious scruples against fighting and killing; you certainly have that right. Numerous pacifists have served honorably in wartime, some even receiving the Medal of Honor, such as Desmond Doss, a medic on Okinawa. Therefore, if you are a Conscientious Objector, owning a firearm might be an anathema to you, so don’t get wrapped-up in the fighting part; we need you in non-combat jobs if we are invaded, so stay here. For you 25% that are not Conscientious Objectors, you might be a RINO, but either way, you don’t need a gun either.

Independents say 57 – 36 percent they would stay and fight. Let’s dig down and find why 36% would leave, because independents sometimes blow with the wind. But it is dangerous for a gun-owner to “blow with the wind”; if you have a firearm in a self-defense situation, there are rights and wrongs concerning its use. If you do not choose wisely, innocent people can get hurt; we need gun-owners to know and do the right thing regardless of whether some Tik Tok “influencer” says to or not. Gun owners cannot be fluid in their ability to think and act rationally; for self-defense, you have to be right all the time. Sleep easy 36% independents; if you would rather leave when the going gets tough, I’d rather you didn’t own a firearm and “maybe” use it wisely.

Last, are those identified as Democrats. 52 percent say they would stay and fight; 40 percent say they would leave the country. One caveat; numerous studies show that many voters vote the way their parents voted, who voted the way their own parents voted – sort of “that’s the way we’ve always done it,” which may mean that great-grandpappy was a horse’s ass and everyone since just follows his lead.

Meanwhile others are also chameleons; were this poll taken when a Republican is President, that 40% might be over 70%, so great is their hatred. I’d prefer you 40% (or whatever) who would flee instead of fight to not own a firearm; one because your leaders say you shouldn’t, and two because if you own a firearm but won’t permit others have one makes you a hypocrite. Most-importantly, with your level of hatred for us “deplorables” who consider it an honor to defend the country, you just might try to shoot us in the back – while we’re trying to hold the Russians, Chinese or whomever at bay!
