The radical Left loves a good social cause, but when Open Carry Ohio came out this past weekend to rally in support of a young black man shot by Beavercreek, OH police, the bigots on the liberal left quickly outed their racial prejudices for all to see.

John Crawford was shot by police while he was talking on his cell phone in the lawn and garden section of the Beavercreek, OH Wal-Mart store. He was holding an air rifle he had picked up in the sporting goods section. Fellow shopper Ronald Ritchie called 9-1-1 and reported that a black guy was walking around the store with a gun pointing it at people and children walking by. Unfortunately for Ritchie, Walmart surveillance tapes did not support Ritchie’s allegations. In fact, a month later, Ritchie was publicly walking back his own words. From the UK Guardian:
When Ronald Ritchie called 911 from the aisles of a Walmart in western Ohio last month to report that a black man was “walking around with a gun in the store”, he said that shoppers were coming under direct threat.
“He’s, like, pointing it at people,” Ritchie told the dispatcher. Later that evening, after John Crawford III had been shot dead by one of the police officers who hurried to the scene in Beavercreek, Ritchie repeated to reporters: “He was pointing at people. Children walking by.”
One month later, Ritchie puts it differently. “At no point did he shoulder the rifle and point it at somebody,” the 24-year-old said, in an interview with the Guardian. He maintained that Crawford was “waving it around”, which attorneys for Crawford’s family deny.
Ritchie told several reporters after the 5 August shooting that he was an “ex-marine”. When confronted with his seven-week service record, however, he confirmed that he had been quickly thrown out of the US marine corps in 2008 after being declared a “fraudulent enlistment”, over what he maintains was simply a mixup over his paperwork.
Vocativ.com, a website owned by Bloomberg’s buddy and former Deputy Chief of Staff Scott Cohen, is howling like a freshly castrated pig. “Shameless Open-Carry Activists Co-Opt Racially Charged Shooting” Vocativ trumpets while stomping their feet and clenching their fists.
The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence Ownership, a gun-grabber organization that’s been pretty much relegated to throwing rhetorical gasoline on Facebook, outed their own racial bigotry in the first two lines of their Facebook post about the rally: “No you’re not John Crawford. For starters, you’re white.”
What? White people can’t march against perceived police misconduct, irrespective of the race of the victim?
CSGV concluded their misguided post with, “Second, John Crawford was peacefully shopping in a Walmart, not marching down the street with a loaded assault rifle to make an explicit threat of violence against his own government.”
Open carry of a scary rifle is an explicit threat of violence against one’s own government?
What’s next?
Will tomorrow bring us the charge that a man unzipping his fly is an explicit threat of sexual violence against women?
The rally last weekend turned out scores of supporters of John Crawford, including dozens of gun owners concerned about how the police handled the case as open carry is legal in Ohio.
