Gabby Giffords

“Right now, we have one system where responsible gun owners take a background check — my husband, Mark, took one just last month, and it took 5 minutes and 36 seconds. I remember waiting a lot longer than that for the subway to take me to my office when I lived in New York City!”

Us:

Let’s institute a system where potential voters submit photo identification to poll workers prior to receiving a ballot.  Also, let’s have them called in to check their background to ensure they are legitimate U.S. citizens eligible to vote, and that there is no criminal background which would render them ineligible to cast a ballot.

Do you think those advocating so vigorously for additional restrictions and regulations on gun sales would campaign so vigorously for photo identification and background checks prior to casting ballots?

We don’t think so.

But they sure do want to restrict our right to exercise the individual right to keep and bear arms!

  1. I would not mind if they did a background check on me to be able to vote. I always show them photo ID anyway even though we don’t have to I believe we all should have to.

    1. I always present photo ID when I vote also JK, even though I my polling place is filled with people who know me. (Rural living is like that). I do so as a matter of practicing what I preach. I stand against “registering to vote”. A simple matter of producing ID when showing up to the polls should be enough. I view that as proving residency and eligibility as a Citizen.

Now I do believe in inalienable natural rights. I also believe in government created rights. Voting is one such example of the latter with RKBA being an example of the former.

How do you view resident aliens being eligible to carry arms yet remaining ineligible to vote? And how does Thomas concurrence in McDonald allow that when Citizenship is a major player in incorporation of the Second being held as enforceable against state and local government?

  2. In Missouri it should only take about 30 seconds since their liberal Democrat governor sold his people down the river and gave all of their personal information to the DHS. In my opinion that is impeachable, punishable by ______.

  3. Like Gabby Giffords said, “Right now, we have one system where responsible gun owners take a background check — my husband, Mark, took one just last month, and it took 5 minutes and 36 seconds.”

‘Responsible gun owners’ are not a problem, It’s the CRIMINALS. They do not ‘take a background check ‘ like your husband did. They do not obey the law. Thats why we call them CRIMINALS.

That is why Universal Background Checks will not do any thing to stop ILLEGAL gun trafficing of criminals.

  4. Interesting that “mr Giffords” (I love calling him that) was REFUSED sale for the pistol the first time because he had out if state ID and REFUSED sale of the AR the second time because he was lying about his intentions. I wonder if he gets nailed by the IRS over his Facebook postings too. He he.

He set out to show background checks were too easy yet showed that two-thirds of the time even a congresswomans husband was hemmed up. Around here we call that Epic Fail.

What’s going on here is government attempting to infringe on the right to own which encompasses the right to buy and sell and otherwise transfer as a gift. Innocent people are harmed on this path and criminals are unaffected.

All code from local all the way through federal must focus on uses outside defense in order to comply with the spirit and wording of the Second Amendment.
