DEAR SUN-TIMES: Focus on Criminals, not Guns

August 7, 2017

slaponwrist

Chicago has a problem in its catch and release criminal justice system.  Of course, the do-gooders by the lake don't see that.  Instead, they reach for the well-worn playbook and call for more gun control instead of criminal control.  That's right:  Chicago's failing SunTimes newspaper ran an editorial in Friday's edition calling for the US Attorney's office in Chicago to declare jihad on illegal guns.

Now, we realize that even fewer people read the "other paper" in Rahm's paradise on Fridays than other days, but c'mon.  Instead of trotting out the same failed policies, how about something new, Sun-Times.  How about focusing on ridding the Windy S City (whoops, almost made a Freudian faux pax there) of those illegally misusing guns?

Of course, with drunks and accused wife beaters like Neil Steinberg on the editorial board of the Sun-Times, it's not hard to see where their flawed thinking comes from.

Here's the first few lines of tripe from the Friday edition of the formerly impressive Sun-Times:

The U.S. attorney’s office in Chicago, among the busiest in the nation, must set its priorities to fit the times.

Twenty years ago, the top priority might have been public corruption. Ten years ago, it might have been white-collar crime.

EDITORIAL

Today, as John Lausch prepares to take over the job, we urge the U.S. attorney’s office in Chicago to focus on one priority above all others:

Ridding our city of illegal guns.

Until and unless Chicago's ruling class (that's the Democrat machine for those living under a rock for the last 80 years) decides to hold criminals accountable for their acts, nothing will change.  More people will die.  Still more people will flee the city if they can afford it.

And the relatively safe areas of Rahm’s paradise will continue to shrink and become more heavily taxed to finance continued mismanagement.

    143.00/day at Darts Jail.

They do all they can to NOT lock up criminals.

They don't have the money, they claim.

    How did that happen?

They have plenty of money for bloated bureaucracies employing scads of their Democrat patronage army.  And for pissing away money on all manner of Democrat priorities.  Things like aid and welfare for illegal aliens in Rahm's sactuary city.

And they just raised taxes on sodas for "health reasons" even though those least healthy are exempted.  (Why is it so many on welfare are obese, anyway?)  And even diet drinks are now taxed from what I've been told.  LIARS they are.

No, Democrats don't see law and order as a priority.  Given a choice between locking up a turd and giving a fellow Dem a job, they'll award that job everytime.  They can always blame guns on their way to the liquor store.

These same people emptied our our jails in the 60s and 70s, tripling our violent crime rates nationwide.  Under Reagan, we started imprisoning bad people and guess what happened?  Crime went down.

Yet the cosmopolitan types can't seem to make the connection.

I moved out of SHITCAGO (nothing Freudian about that!) because of its parking policies.  Any city that NEEDS FIFTY MILLION BUCKS a year from PARKING TICKETS is doing EVERYTHING WRONG.

That was fifteen years ago. I imagine it's doubled by now, at the least.

Who would live in a city where you get a $135 parking ticket almost EVERY SINGLE DAY?

    That's pure evil.

And, of course, they'll never get another DIME out of me. Call it CONSERVATIVE FLIGHT!

    Eff you, Rahm

The taxpayers in Illinois are the most heavily taxed on the US, but the state can't pay its bills? Too many politicians stealing money.
