Chicago has a problem in its catch and release criminal justice system. Of course, the do-gooders by the lake don't see that. Instead, they reach for the well-worn playbook and call for more gun control instead of criminal control. That's right: Chicago's failing Sun–Times newspaper ran an editorial in Friday's edition calling for the US Attorney's office in Chicago to declare jihad on illegal guns.
Now, we realize that even fewer people read the "other paper" in Rahm's paradise on Fridays than other days, but c'mon. Instead of trotting out the same failed policies, how about something new, Sun-Times. How about focusing on ridding the Windy S City (whoops, almost made a Freudian faux pax there) of those illegally misusing guns?
Of course, with drunks and accused wife beaters like Neil Steinberg on the editorial board of the Sun-Times, it's not hard to see where their flawed thinking comes from.
Here's the first few lines of tripe from the Friday edition of the formerly impressive Sun-Times:
The U.S. attorney’s office in Chicago, among the busiest in the nation, must set its priorities to fit the times.
Twenty years ago, the top priority might have been public corruption. Ten years ago, it might have been white-collar crime.
EDITORIAL
Today, as John Lausch prepares to take over the job, we urge the U.S. attorney’s office in Chicago to focus on one priority above all others:
Ridding our city of illegal guns.
Until and unless Chicago's ruling class (that's the Democrat machine for those living under a rock for the last 80 years) decides to hold criminals accountable for their acts, nothing will change. More people will die. Still more people will flee the city if they can afford it.
And the relatively safe areas of Rahm’s paradise will continue to shrink and become more heavily taxed to finance continued mismanagement.
