ALERT! Warm up your phones! Madigan to push his “anti-gun” carry bill Tuesday

February 22, 2013

Put your war paint on, ladies and gentleman!  It’s time to get your phone charged up and ready to rumble.

Beginning Monday morning, we want you to call Springfield and tell your State Representative to support ONLY the Guns Save Life and NRA-backed House Bill 997.  Call them early and often.  Call your local district office as well as the office in Springfield.

If you want to begin calling tomorrow, Saturday, have at it.

On Tuesday, Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan is going to try use a seldom-used legislative procedure called the “Weekly Order of Business” to suspend normal House business and, in this case, bring a carry bill to the floor of the House for consideration, skipping the normal processes.

It would seem that the closed-door legislative meeting of House Democrats put the fear of God in gun control advocates and they believe they need to act sooner rather than later to keep you and I from carrying our fully loaded Glocks with spare magazines (and why not a spare gun while you’re at it) into the Statehouse come June 9th, 2013.

That’s the date when the stay suspending the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals Moore v Madigan decision striking down Illinois’ prohibition on carry outside of the home expires.

Madigan plans to consider House Bill 1155 and amendments to HB1155 as the sole order of business beginning Tuesday.

We’ll save you time looking up HB1155.  It’s a shell bill at this point.  This is one of those things where they will introduce it at the last minute – hopefully not at 3a.m. as was the case with the anti-gun bills passed in New Jersey in the last couple of days.

NRA-ILA released an announcement just a short time ago:

Illinois:  House Speaker Madigan Orders House to Consider Firearm Legislation Next Tuesday

Contact your state Representative IMMEDIATELY and tell him or her to only support NRA-Backed House Bill 997!

NRA-ILA has just learned that beginning at noon next Tuesday, February 26 , the Illinois House will be considering various gun control proposals and other firearm-related legislation.  It is not yet clear what measures will be considered.  At this moment, there is a strong possibility that among the various extreme anti-gun measures, a deeply flawed concealed carry bill will be heard.

You must contact your state Representative IMMEDIATELY.  Tell them to oppose any and all gun control schemes that do nothing other than penalize law-abiding citizens and take away their means to self-defense.  It is imperative that legislators do NOT vote in favor of any flawed concealed carry legislation, but instead support [Editor:  Guns Save Life and] NRA-Backed House Bill 997.

Your NRA-ILA will continue to keep you updated as details become available.  Contact information for your state legislators can be [found] here.

  1. That these gun grabbers won’t stand down should have gun RIGHTS folks saying support NO legislation until July 4th.

It is time that every pro gun rights advocates share their feelings AND knowledge with those around us who are followers and actually believe that BHO doesn’t want to disarm the US.
If the 2nd A is trashed, then we are on a crash course to become subjects AGAIN, which is what our forefathers understood. The 2nd A is to PROTECT US from being overthrown by a tyrannical government such as they had JUST declared independence from! The 2nd A is NOT just about hunting or shooting or self defense.
Pick up your phone and make the calls while you still have that opportunity! If the 2nd A goes, the 1st A (freedom of speech) could very well be next!

    “Constitutional Carry”
What is wrong with following the Constitution of the United States?
You freely took an oath to uphold and protect the Constitution of the United States. If you no longer intend to obey you oath, I accept your immediate resignation from all publicly supported positions.

      Mech,

Unfortunately, it has become perfectly clear to me that when BHO took the oath of office pledging to uphold and protect the Constitution of the US, he was lying, since his actions have demonstrated that his goal was, as he STATED (but no one listened) that he wanted to TRANSFORM the US.

    Support House Bill 997.
Any restrictive gun laws will only restrict law abiding citizens. Criminals DO NOT FOLLOW LAWS! That is what makes them criminals. I cannot say it as well as our founding fathers.
“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”
–Thomas Jefferson, quoting Cesare Beccaria in On Crimes and Punishment (1764).
“Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence … From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable . . . the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that is good” (George Washington)

The democRATS of the machine are collectively responsible for the sorry state of the state. Through gerrymandering, and rule of the Chicago board of elections, they answer to no one not even the supreme court of the u.s. they think. They have damaged Illinois irreparably through incompetence and fraud and should be the focus of the FBI. so it should be no surprise Madigoon will do as he wishes, and to hell with the 2nd amendment, and the law abiding taxpayers.

Attempt to call the Capital today proved futile. No voice mail, no anything. Finally contacted the info desk at the rotundra. I was told no one was in the Capital and even the main switch board was not manned.

Yes it seems to be frustrating, but please pick up your phone again tomorrow AND Mon AND Tue and try to get through again. They NEED to hear from us.
I responded to a request from NRA-ILA last night to call Senators in 20 different states to request that they vote NO on gun bans, magazine bans, transfer issues & gun registration. I was able to leave 11 voicemails, got one “office closed, goodbye”, and 8 “message box is full”.
That does leave me wondering how they can get a count on how many persons are calling, and what opinion they wish to give.
I just need to call in again!
I also sent emails to my state Senator & state Rep, both of which are sponsors of our Pro gun bills, HB997 & SB1284. I thanked them, & asked that they do whatever they can to get THESE bills on the floor for vote & to definitely vote down the bad ones, such as HB 1155 which Madigan is going to bring out on Tue.

  7. 997 is a bill imposing permission slips a person must buy and qualify for. It put exercising a RIGHT on par with a government approved allowance. Supporting this bill would be just like supporting a bill mandating permission slips from government in order to allow to carry your bible. Worse yet it akin to begging for permission not to carry the holy book government chooses

Folks are being hoodwinked into thinking they have to beg for permission slips.
Stop begging for permission! Stand up for your RIGHTS!

Do you have a right to keep and bear arms or just a right to beg for permission?
Think it through folks, before you are conned into supporting something you actually oppose.

      Ashrak,

Please cite the page/paragraph that you refer to in HB 997 (or SB 1284) concerning buying of permission slips.
      Thank you.
