The Chicago Sun-Times commits an act of drive-by journalism with the report that the number of sworn police officers in Chicago has dropped nearly 12% on his watch, from 7,047 to 6,244 today.  Meanwhile, homicides in Chicago have nearly doubled from the low 400s to this year's total which will approach 800.  And the number of shootings?  Well, that one is off the charts.

The reporter responsible for this crime, Dan Mihalopoulos better have some contractor clean up bags to dispose of the horse's head he's liable to find tucked into his bed for Christmas.  Or his dog or cat (or both) might turn up flattened in the street in front of his house.  Tiny Dancer doesn't play nice with people who embarrass him and expose his lies.

Here it is, from the Sun-Times:

Even if Mayor Rahm Emanuel manages to add nearly 1,000 cops in the next couple years, his promised surge of new hires would barely make up for the decline in the Chicago Police Department’s ranks on his watch.

There were 6,244 rank-and-file police officers working the city’s 22 police districts as of Oct. 19, records obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times show. That’s down more than 800 from the 7,047 beat cops shortly after Emanuel took office in 2011.

Look for Rahm to blame guns once more, and not his failure to exhibit leadership and support his police officers.  And certainly not the failed hiring and promotion policies at CPD, the failure of Democrat State's Attorney to charge crimes or the soft on crime judges in Cook County who will release an arrestee charged with armed robbery on electronic home confinement.

  1. The money is gone.

They treat their cops like crap.

Chicago government is full of corrupt politicians who only care about power.

    Chicago is the next Detroit.
