The good Lord made man and woman.  Sam Colt made them equal.

Such was the case in Washington State when a 25-year-old scumbag broke into an elderly couple’s home and violently attacked them.

She retrieved a handgun while her husband fought with the violent criminal, getting stabbed in the abdomen repeatedly.

The 80-year-old woman shot the son of a you-know-what dead right there.

(Seattle Times) – An 80-year-old woman shot and killed a man who stabbed her husband after breaking into their Sultan home Thursday night, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said.

Medics airlifted the injured 75-year-old man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with stab wounds to the abdomen, according to a news release from sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton. The intruder, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was from Gold Bar.

His name was not released Thursday night. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner will identify him.

The woman called 911 around 8:30 p.m. to report she shot the man after he broke into the home in the 13700 block of Woods Lake Road, according to Ireton. Neither the woman nor the couple’s 45-year-old son, who also was home, was injured.

  1. I pray that brave man protecting his family recovers. At that age, recovery is very slow, and I doubt it’ll be 100%.

  2. Kudos to the lady, absolutely. Good shot, ma’am. But probably a lucky shot, even at point blank range.

Home carry, folks. Having to “retrieve” her gun may have been the difference between life and death for her husband. Reaction takes time, but it takes a LOT of unnecessary time if you have to go locate the gun and, probably, make sure it is loaded. All even more a problem if you are not truly familiar with the gun and how to use it. Practice, dry fire, get more training of course… but carry the darn thing if you truly want to defend yourself and those you love.

    1. I always carry at the house (and most other places) here in SC. When I read the stories of defensive gun uses in American Rifleman or on the NRA website they seem to always say something like the homeowner “grabbed” or “retrieved” his gun.

I can’t imagine having time to fetch my gun after the door has been kicked open!

  3. We’re not that old, but I assure you the outcome to the badguy would be the same if he picked my house to break into and then try to stab one of us or the grandkids.

Oh hell… I’d have to paint and get new carpet and everything.

    Sam
