Murder City USA put in quite an impressive weekend of mostly peaceful bloodletting this past weekend.  Mostly gang-related violence saw 13 people killed, including a 14-year-old bystander playing on a playground.  Three confirmed gang bangers died in a massive gang shootout at an intersection “takeover” where ne’er-do-wells roast their tires while drifting their cars.

A total of nine juveniles were among over fifty shot during the weekend, including the 14-year-old killed on a playground.  As for arrests, Chicago Police made few arrests, thanks in large part to the no-snitch culture so prevalent.

In the end, it proved just another weekend in America’s largest open-air shooting range.  Frankly, it’s sad, but some have speculated that “Weaponized Government Failure” is done intentionally by Democrats to nudge the middle class to leave a city, allowing less political competition for the people who rule the city.  Even if it means them ruling over ruins, Democrats don’t care.  They’re still ruling.

But in the case of Mayor Lori Lightfoot, lovingly referred to as “Groot” by the police, she spends her spare time in Michigan where it’s safer.  And her police chief?  He flies back to Dallas most weekends.  Both are obviously heavily “invested” in making changes.

Well, maybe not so much.

Here’s the latest on last weekend’s body count from FoxNews.

Chicago’s gun violence erupted into another bloody weekend in which over 50 people were shot, including a 14-year-old boy on a playground and three men with gang affiliations killed at a drag racing incident that involved nearly 100 cars, authorities said Monday morning.

HeyJackass puts the total shot at over 60.  But then again, HeyJackass covers Chicago violence victims who are shot and/or killed outside of Chicago Police jurisdictions (such as universities, interstate highways, county parks, etc.)

The violence occurred from 6 p.m. Friday to 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Chicago police said.

In total, there were 43 shooting incidents and 51 shooting victims, which included at least eight juveniles. Police said that of the 11 recorded murders, 10 people were fatally shot and one was fatally stabbed.

Among those fatally shot were three Hispanic males at a street racing and drifting incident just before 4 a.m. Sunday in the 4300 block of South Kedzie. Police said a caravan of nearly 100 cars had taken over the intersection when at least 13 rounds were fired.

Aside from the 14-year-old killed on the playground, other notables included a 50-year-old man who stepped into the hallway outside his apartment to investigate a disturbance.  He took a round to the face for his troubles.

Another notable:  The “most dangerous” block in Chicago – near downtown – saw the 11th person shot there so far this year in a series of violent incidents.  The block, 400 South Wells, even sports a Chicago Fire Department substation, which has likely helped those shot to survive.  Three did not.

Then there was the security guard who reportedly worked high-profile events who shot and killed a man on a CTA train.  The guard had stolen the man’s Pepsi from his backpack.  When the man objected, cops say Issac Anderson pulled out a revolver and shot his victim five times in front of horrified fellow passengers.

It’s surely a great thing that guns are so heavily regulated in Chicago.  It’s a small price to pay for the peaceful and bucolic utopia Mayor Lori Lightfoot rules over.

The moral of the story for the rest of us?  Avoid Chicago.  Even if you have a concealed carry gun.

What’s this weekend have on tap?  We’re going to speculate over 32 shot and 8 dead.  Post your predictions in comments.

  1. Given Elon Musk just bought Twitter and Donald Trump will be Tweeting by Monday, I am betting the shrieking from Groot and crew will cause more suicides than homicides.

Just kidding. 10 dead. 35 shot. 0 arrests.
