IMPORTANT NOTICE: September’s Springfield GSL meeting is CANCELLED. Other venues are a “GO!”

August 25, 2021

Initially, we moved our “first Monday” monthly GSL meeting at SCHEELS to 4pm as the store closes at 6pm in recognition of the Labor Day holiday.   As we’ve moved closer to the meeting date – and with what’s happening with the latest COVID and other factors – SCHEELS has asked us to cancel September’s meeting.

We always have a good time at GSL meetings!

With that in mind, our other venues are all scheduled to host our September meetings.  These include:

DECATUR:  First Wednesday of the month.  Wednesday, September 1st at Coz’s Pizza (1405 East Village Parkway) in Mt. Zion, IL.
PEORIA:  First Thursday of the month.  Thursday, September 2nd at Barrack’s Banquet Hall (1224 W. Pioneer Pkwy) in Peoria.  CLICK HERE to RSVP for meal (option, but requested)
PONTIAC:  First Tuesday of the month.  Tuesday, September 7th at Pontiac Sportsman’s Club (18791 N 1300 East Rd.) in Pontiac.
CHARLESTON:  Second Thursday of the month.  Thursday, September 9th at the Unique Hotel & Conference Center in Charleston.
CHAMPAIGN COUNTY/RANTOUL:  Second Tuesday of the month.  Tuesday, September 14th at the KC Hall (1001 N. Ohio) in Rantoul.

It is a shame that Scheels or the GSL Springfield, IL team did not at least post a sign where the usual meetings are held at Scheels in Springfield, IL to inform members who did not look online for a cancellation notice before going to Scheels at 4pm as SCHEDULED and POSTED in the newsletter.

We posted the cancellation online within hours of receiving notice that they would be unable to host us for a couple of reasons, including additionally that they were operating on a skeleton crew for the holiday.

We apologize for the inconvenience. It’s very much outside the norm for us to cancel a meeting. Before COVID, in fact, I can count on one hand the number of meetings we’d cancelled in twenty years.
