Well now, here’s a piece of news you didn’t her about on the CBS Evening News or CNN, and most certainly not on MSNBC:  Idaho’s Governor “Butch” Otter signed Constitutional Carry into law for Idaho residents on Thursday, March 24th.

The passage of the new law makes Idaho the 9th state with Constitutional Carry, and came despite heavy lobbying and financial expenditures by Bloomberg funded groups.

Gun Owners of America had this to say:

Billionaire Michael Bloomberg is pouring thousands upon thousands of out-of-state dollars into Idaho in order to generate calls against SB 1389, the Constitutional Carry bill.

Highly-placed sources tell GOA that calls are running 5-1 AGAINST permitless carry into the Governor’s office”

Governor Otter had three choices on what to do with the bill.  He could have veto it (and suffered the political humiliation of getting his veto over-ridden).  He could have done nothing and allowed the bill to become law, or he could have sign it.

Despite heavy lobbying for the Bloomberg side, Otter took the bull by the horns and signed it the law.

The New American has most of the story, however it’s worth noting that they went to press with it before waiting for the Governor’s signature:

The movement to enact “constitutional carry”  of weapons has added another notch to the growing list of states that do not require a permit for individuals to carry concealed weapons.

On March 21, the Idaho legislature sent Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter legislation that would make the Gem State the ninth U.S. state to acknowledge that individuals have a natural right “to keep and bear arms,” and do not need a permit or license from the government to carry concealed weapons. Senate Bill 1389 passed the Idaho Senate by a vote of 27 to 8 on March 16 and then passed the House on March 18 by a vote of 54 to 15.

  1. Glad to read the people and the Governor of the State of Idaho stood strong against a millionaire from the East and didn’t allow him to come into their state and tell them how to live.

    1. I wouldn’t be terribly surprised to find that that was one of the reasons he signed it. We don’t like ignorant easterners telling us what to do.

    1. Poor Bloomers deserves to have his millions wasted in this manner, let’s hope it happens until he is really poor and destitute.

  2. Somebody once told me that money can’t buy everything. I reckon Bloomberg couldn’t buy enough politicians in potatoland. Guess that means he will have a lil more for hookers and blow.
