Another Day, Another Gun Grab: Illinois Democrats Push a “Glock Ban” While Criminals Run Wild

The Illinois State Rifle Association just put out the call for witness slips on HB4471 – the so-called “Glock Ban Bill.” This piece of legislative insanity would ban the sale and transfer of some of the most popular, reliable handguns in America simply because they could accept a Glock switch.

Let that sink in. Switches – those tiny, illegal auto-sears that turn a semi-auto into a full-auto – are already banned under both state and federal law. Criminals who want one don’t fill out Form 4473 or worry about FOID cards. They 3D-print them, buy them on the street, or smuggle them in. But instead of hammering the thugs who actually use them, Springfield’s authoritarians want to hamstring every law-abiding gun owner who carries a Glock for self-defense.

This isn’t “gun safety.” This is anti-gun hysteria dressed up as policy. And it’s spreading like a virus through every blue state whose governor is auditioning for the 2028 Democrat presidential nomination.

** California (Newsom) already rammed through a ban on “convertible” pistols.
** Illinois (Pritzker) is charging full speed ahead.
**  Connecticut, New York, Maryland – same story.

These are the same states that coddle violent criminals with soft-on-crime policies, no-cash bail, revolving-door prosecution, and catch-and-release revolving doors at the jails. Murders, carjackings, and smash-and-grabs are everyday occurrences in their failing cities. Yet the priority isn’t locking up the predators — it’s making it harder for honest citizens to own one of the most common defensive handguns on the planet.

This is the authoritarian mindset in a nutshell:

Punish the productive, law-abiding taxpayer. Reward or ignore the criminal underclass. Virtue-signal about “gun violence” while ignoring the actual violence coming from people who don’t obey any laws. Then act shocked when crime keeps climbing.

They don’t trust you with a standard Glock. But they’ll release repeat offenders back onto the streets the same day they’re arrested. That’s not governance — that’s tyranny with extra steps.

Glocks didn’t create the crime wave. Soft-headed, soft-on-crime policies did. Criminals don’t care about your pistol’s drop-safety features or whether it can theoretically accept a banned part. They care that their victims might be disarmed and defenseless.

File your witness slip today as an OPPONENT to HB4471. Tell the Gun Violence Prevention Committee (ironic name, isn’t it?) that Illinois has had enough of this nonsense. Springfield should punish criminals — not the millions of law-abiding gun owners who follow the rules.

The would-be tyrants in the statehouses and those eyeing bigger offices in Washington think they can chip away at the Second Amendment one “common sense” ban at a time. They think we’ll just roll over.

They haven’t been paying attention. Guns Save Life. And free people won’t be disarmed by fearmongering politicians who can’t keep their own cities safe.

Oppose HB4471. Protect your rights. Stay vigilant.

This bill targets common handguns by focusing on certain internal firearm designs, including the cruciform trigger bar used by Glock and other firearm manufacturers. While Glock appears to be the main target, this language could reach beyond one company and affect other lawful handguns owned by responsible citizens.

The excuse for this bill is the illegal use of “switches” that convert firearms to fully automatic fire.

But those devices are already illegal under state and federal law.

Criminals who use illegal conversion devices should be prosecuted. Law-abiding gun owners should not be punished for owning common, lawful handguns.

HB4471 is another attempt to restrict the rights of responsible Illinois firearm owners while doing little to stop violent criminals who already ignore the law.
