Long-time readers of GunNews and members of Guns Save Life will notice changes in the past few months within our monthly journal. Our number of advertisers continues to grow, as does our cadre of contributors. With each issue we continue to improve, or at least that’s the goal.

At the same time some things have fallen by the wayside, some for space considerations, others for time considerations. Frankly, I don’t have the time to do meeting summaries any longer. It was the most grueling part of GunNews. And frankly, it is competing with growing family obligations and the fact that I’m getting paid real money to write for The Truth About Guns and Shooting News Weekly – and they want (a lot) more of my content. While I receive a small stipend for laying out GunNews, if I spent that time writing for those national publications, I’d be at least a couple thousand dollars ahead each and every month.

Thankfully, we’re welcoming some excellent contributors. They bring fresh perspectives and some great content. Frankly though, given our space constraints, if they weren’t excellent, they wouldn’t make the cut. And candidly, some don’t. It’s not personal. It’s just that GSL isn’t going to grow our journal to 32 pages over the current 24.

If there’s anyone out there with experience (professional or pro-am) with design and layout with Adobe InDesign, feel free to contact me if you would like to take over the GunNews project over the course of a few month transition period. Expect it to take about 40 hours per month, especially if you factor in keeping up with news stories for possible inclusion. Layout itself is a solid 25 hours each month, for me at least. 1. Great video posted by the last commenter. Our local range had a night set aside for women and I thought I needed it …. until I saw the “deer in the headlights” look on the faces of the other women there.
