We welcome gun owners and non-gun owners as visitors to our website.  We offer opportunities for everyone to share their thoughts, analysis and commentary to stories, etc.

Given this is our house, and we pay to keep the lights on, we have some basic rules.

Those commenting should be polite and respectful.  Keep the vulgarity and personal attacks down.  We’re a salon, not a saloon as they say at one well-known blog Lucianne.

While everyone has a First Amendment right to say pretty much anything they wish, the 1st Amendment doesn’t guarantee a platform to do it.

We don’t owe you anything here… not a platform to broadcast your vitriol, racism, hatred, bigotry or divisiveness.

Under the bigotry category, we’ve got a handful of commenters who have made it their mission to attack the Illinois State Police wholesale.  A couple mention Sen. Plummer in particular.  Frankly, I’m starting to think that given the verbiage they consistently use that they are nothing but AI chatbots programmed to post in response to keywords.  If you want to play the “ALL COPS ARE BAD” card that is as unwelcome here as the “ALL BLACKS ARE CRIMINALS” mantra.  Take it to a forum that welcomes that thinking.  This isn’t it.  Furthermore, if we even think we sense AI chatbots posts, we’ll block those posts without a second thought.

If you can’t play nice, don’t play at all.

And if your purpose in visiting is to stir negativity against good people, you’re more than welcome not to come back.  We won’t miss you.

If you decide to make it your personal jihad to misbehave, we’ll block you outright.

We’ll listen to criticism from people who we would accept advice from.

Think before you post your comment.
