THE WELL ARMED WOMAN ILLINOIS CHAPTER LEADERS MEET
FOR TRAINING SESSION IN URBANA
Urbana, IL – The Well Armed Woman is the country’s largest women’s shooting organization. Membership nationwide is skyrocketing with more than 275 chapters and 8500 members. There are now 18 chapters, 43 leaders and close to 400 members in Illinois. Illinois leaders gathered in Urbana at the High Caliber Training Center and Range over the March 4-6 weekend for meetings, classes and training. High Caliber is the host range for the Champaign County chapter.
“The Well Armed Woman Illinois chapters were thrilled to have the opportunity to train at the High Caliber Training Center’s state of the art facility in Urbana,” said Lori Sanner, Illinois State Leader and NRA Certified Instructor. “It was a very beneficial weekend. High Caliber and TWAW have the same goal of providing women with an unintimidating environment to learn and practice their shooting skills”.
The weekend event included discussions on working with host ranges, exchanging successful training ideas and methods, expanding the organization’s presence in Illinois, planning a state-wide event for 2017, and applying for grants, among other things. In addition, the leaders attended several classes, training in the simulator room, and live fire training on the range assisted by High Caliber instructors and RSO’s. “TWAW is an outstanding organization geared solely for women of all levels of experience, from the first time firearm owner to the seasoned shooter” said High Caliber owner and CEO Tim Murray. “They are a great resource not only for the women in the local communities, but for the range owner as well”.
