That may have been
That may have been the case in the 1960s.  Today though, the greatest purveyor of violence is young, black males committing said violence against other young, black males.  Photo via Post-Dispatch

It’s unknown if Crayton “Big Wes” West was looking for more than cold cash during a KFC robbery Sunday evening, but he found some hot lead delivered PDQ after a police sergeant was alerted to the robbery.  Yes, Big Wes met his match – and his maker – when he pointed his gun at a cop.

Local “activists”, hanging around after a MLK holiday parade, heard of the incident and rallied across the street from where the black thug died, his pockets stuffed with ill-gotten cash he would never live to spend.

Fast-food robber killed by St. Louis police had history of holdups in mid 80s

ST. LOUIS (Post-Dispatch) • The man police shot and killed Sunday during an armed robbery at a fast-food restaurant had a history of such robberies as well as sodomy, according to court records.

Sources identified the man as Crayton “Big Wes” West, 52, of the 5400 block of Arlington Avenue, and his mother confirmed that she had gone to identify his body Monday.

West was killed by a St. Louis police sergeant who confronted him inside the Kentucky Fried Chicken near Grand Boulevard and Gravois Avenue at about 6 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.

Police say West had robbed the business and pointed a weapon at the sergeant.

Big Wes wasn’t the brightest dim bulb, now was he?

He used a cap pistol to rob seven restaurants over a 10-day stretch in October 1986.

Beats workin’ for a living.  Working is for chumps, don’t you know?

His mother, Ruth West, said she had viewed his body Monday and confirmed that she was told he had been shot by police.

She said her son left her home Sunday morning. She tried calling him throughout the day, but her calls went to voicemail. She said she heard news reports of the police shooting and had been worried it might be him.

She said her son was living with her since his release from prison in January 2014. She said he wasn’t married and had an adult son. She said her son was on parole and was supposed to be working. He had been depressed lately because the jobs paid so poorly, she said.

“He was trying to find something better than minimum wage,” she said. “He wanted to find a better job.”

He wasn’t trying too hard, was he?

Ruth West said her son had to be tested for drugs with his parole officer, and at least one urine test showed that he been taking drugs, she said. She wasn’t sure what kind of drugs. She said he was sent to a rehab facility for a few months and also to jail for violating his parole.

He apparently had money to buy drugs.  And he went to rehab?  Apparently he was more than a recreational user of recreational pharma, eh?

The shooting drew some activists who had been attending the nearby King memorial. The gathering was also to talk about the future of the Black Lives Matter movement. Some of those who showed up at the shooting scene chanted and complained about police shootings of black men. West is black, and the officer who shot him white.

Yeah, leave it to the “Black Lives Matter” domestic agitators (or terrorists, if you prefer) to chant and complain about an armed career criminal getting shot down in the commission of a felony armed robbery after pointing a gun at a cop.

  1. One less violent criminal!

How will we ever manage to move on with our lives?

Pardon me while I weep for old Big Wes.

Someone should have stuck a chicken leg in his mouth so he could go out in style.

  2. Wonder what that string of armed holdups netted him per hour of his incarceration? Maybe a penny per hour?

Dumb thugs finish dead and nobody but Sam gives a shit about them.

  3. Cry me a river mom… Your son lived, and died by the sword. Where did he get that entitled thinking that he was above minimum wage?
Here’s a hint for anyone; if you have a lick of sense and willingness to work, you wont be at minimum long.
But Big Wes knew better than that. He made some bad choices, and KEPT making bad choices.
He chose to rob back in 86. It cost him years in prison.
He chose to use drugs and violate parole. It cost him jail and rehab.
He chose to rob a KFC, of all places. It cost him his life.
He chose to point a gun at a cop, even a white one will shoot you eventually….
    And now he’s dead.
Big Wes knew the outcome of each of these things. He knew that robbery would get you prison, that drugs get your parole violated, and that pointing a gun at a cop will get your ticket punched, even in St. Louis in 2016.
The article mentioned Wes is/was black.
Like lawyers after an ambulance, the BLM crowd came running, all self important and indignant that some cop dared to go home to his family, even though he will carry the unpleasant memory of taking a life the rest of his days. I can promise you that cop gets no joy in this. Wes crapped on him too. Nightmares and IAD investigations are no day at the beach Wes….

Blame? There’s plenty to go around.

First I will blame the democrat plantation political machine, that tells blacks that they are not as good, as talented and as able as EVERY other race. That they need help from Obama, and the rest of that entitlement crowd, just keep them votes comin, y’all.
Second, I blame momma. Yes, you momma. You have been making excuses for your son for 52 years now. Nothing was ever his fault, everybody was against him, or ‘raciss’ or something…. And not one of those excuses did a damn thing to help Big Wes get a handle on life, to man up, to push himself, to become more than he thought he could become.
A black mother told me once in confidence, “We push our daughters and baby our sons” meaning that their boys never really outgrow moms apron, no matter the age.
    Wes was a shining example.
I will blame daddy too, because in the vast majority of these cases, Daddy is gone, weak, unknown, or somehow not available in their child’s life. I would bet a mortgage payment Wes didnt see his dad for fathers day, ever. Dad was not there to model what a working man looked like I would estimate.
Lastly, Wes himself, for believing all the crap, staying in the herd, choosing the wrong path over and over. Success is a scary thing to some people.
I don’t write this to gloat over the messed up pathology of the urban black family. I do this because I am tired of seeing it, generation after generation, and someone has to point this out. The PC crowd wants to pretend that no such issue exists, and that somehow George Bush is to blame.
    Horse shit.
Nothing would make me happier than to see successful, responsible, accountable black men, women and families. But theres money and power to be made in keeping them on the plantation, as it were. We all pay the price for this lie. Cars get stolen, people get robbed on the bus, and all that sucks, but the black kids get dead. Nine times the rate of the white kids. Go look it up, I’ll wait.
It has to stop, and now, denial has no survival value.
Jesse Jackson might have to get a real job, and that is the last thing he will ever do.
This is not a gun law thing, this is not a racial profiling thing, this is a statistical outcome of a policy of allowing this portion of black culture to be blameless, generation after generation.

I am not a liberal, I am not a politician. I am a white guy who is a party to the process, and I see it every day. It’s heartbreaking, but nobody seems to care on that side, it’s easier to blame the NRA, even at the expense of their children.

    1. Denial has no survival value.

You must have been around Col. Dave Grossman, eh?

Denial has survival value to Democrat politicians though. For if they took the blinders of denial off their constituents’ eyes, they would be unemployed the next election.

Blame everyone else instead. Just like a good alcoholic.

In the meantime, all we can do is educate the ones who will listen and thin the predator herd.

Here’s a clue black folks: You’re not doing yourself any favors by sweeping the problem children of your community under the carpet. Because all the rest of America reads about is your problem children committing one heinous, senseless and/or tragic criminal act or another upon their fellow (usually black) Americans.

    2. Notice how no matter if they are 15 or 52 it is always mammy who talks to the news and never daddy? Gee, wonder why?

  4. I bet he was “tryin'” to breathe after he got perforated.

I bet he was thinkin’ “I can’t breathe!”

Good. I hope it hurt, because when you’re that stupid, it needs to hurt.

  5. I may not have led a perfect life, but I can honestly say that my mother never heard about the police killing someone and worried that it might be me.
I think some bad choices were made somewhere, along with an imperfect life turnaround.

  6. Black lives don’t matter to anyone, especially blacks, they don’t matter to blacks,Whites, the job market, they don’t matter to anything that has to do with civilization.Blacks are parasites that suck off the government tit,it’s time the taxpayers stopped paying these criminals to commit crimes,ni66ers get welfare, food stamps, section 8 housing ect.,ect. and they still won’t act like proper law abiding citizens.black lives matter will go away just like that occupy wall street bullshit did, anything that requires working, and marching up and down the street all day can be physically demanding, just another bunch of ni66ers demanding something they didn’t work for.The cops will continue to shoot criminal ni66ers and criminal ni66ers will continue to commit crimes, all I can say is good riddance to another criminal ni66er.
