California’s Barbara Boxer, one of two virulently anti-gun U.S. Senators from California, has announced she will not be running for re-election in 2016.

Could it be she senses America’s shifting political landscape and doesn’t want to bother with a bruising race for re-election?  She is, after all, the Senator the rocket scientist who berated an Army General for calling her “ma’am” – a sign of respect from the military man to the civilian Boxer.

From the Washington Times:  “Do me a favor, can you say ‘senator’ instead of ‘ma’am’?” Mrs. Boxer pointedly asked the general. “It’s just a thing. I worked so hard to get that title, so I’d appreciate it. Thank you.”

Yes, ma’am.

It doesn’t matter to us if Boxer is chickening out on another re-election race.  All we know is that she won’t be missed and gun owners have an opening to replace her with someone a great deal more moderate on guns.

Who knows, though.  Democrats might actually nominate disgraced state senator Leland Yee to replace Boxer.
