Can you spell O-V-E-R-R-E-A-C-H?  I thought you could.

Diane Feinstein, the elitist, freedom-hating Senator from California, released her vision of a new semi-auto gun ban to ban America’s favorite rifle, the AR-15, along with hundreds of other popular rifles, pistols and handguns Americans own and use to defend their families over a million times each year.

Her outline for a bill, which isn’t even touted to reduce violent crime because, of course, it never will, is as flawed as her spelling in her much-touted press release.

Screen capture from Diane Feinstein’s official US Senate webpage.

Under her proposal, existing guns would become subject to the National Firearms Act and owners would be subject to registration and fingerprinting.

Most semi-auto rifles, pistols and shotguns would be banned from future sale, transfer, manufacture or importation.

Folks, this might make for great panic-buying sales of guns and magazines from folks who don’t know any better, but we’ve got a better chance of seeing Barack Obama’s real birth certificate than this bill has chances of passage in the U.S. Senate.

Seriously, the bill is just an effort by Diane Feinstein to get her name out in the fawning mainstream media and try to keep this latest push for freedom-hating gun restrictions, fueled by the now-drying blood of those school children in Connecticut, alive.  That’s all it is.

This, doubly so in a time when a record number of Americans are opposed to banning handguns – the very tool so often used by everyday Americans to protect their children and families.

From Gallup.

Gun hating liberals are starting to panic (yes, panic) that they are losing control of the narrative on gun restrictions.  The are upset that the conversation is now about putting guns in schools with police officers, teachers and administrators instead of about gun bans.

Liberals Panic As They Lose the Gun Narrative

(Town Hall.com) – When you argue for a living, you can tell how an argument is going for you. The evidence and my gut both tell me that the liberals have lost control of the gun control narrative.

Not for lack of trying – it was almost as if they were poised to leap into action across the political, media and cultural spectrum the second the next semi-human creep shot up another “gun free zone.” This was their big opening to shift the debate and now it’s closing. They’ve lost, and they are going nuts.

The evidence is all around that this is not going to be the moment where America begins a slide into disarmed submission through an endless series of ever-harsher “reasonable restrictions” on our fundamental rights. You just have to look past the shrieking media harpies to see what’s really happening.

Let’s start with the most obvious omen that this tsunami has peaked. President Obama thrilled his base by grandstanding at the memorial, and then promptly washed his hands of it by handing it over to a “blue ribbon commission.” Making Joe Biden its chairman was like staking a vampire through the heart, then hosing him down with holy water before burying his body beneath the Gilroy Garlic Festival.

Why does Obama want this gun thing buried? While intensely popular with metrosexual pundits, coastal liberals, and cultural bigots slobbering at the opportunity to stick it to those banjo –strummin’, God-believers out in the hinterlands, gun control remains poison to Red State Democrats.

Joe Manchin of West Virginia couldn’t resist some sanctimonious posturing, but clearly he heard enough from his constituents to sprint-back his heresy with a WaPo op-ed explaining how awesome the NRA is and how groovy gun owners are. He will never take sides against the family again.

What can YOU do? (!)

Just because this bill is going nowhere at the moment doesn’t mean things aren’t going to change for the worse down the road.  You can’t sit around relying on others to carry the load to protect your rights.  If you have been sitting around on the sidelines for whatever reason, it’s time to step up and be a proud American.  Get involved and make a difference.

  • Make sure you’re a member of the NRA, the ONLY national gun rights organization that has the clout of almost 5 million members.   Join or renew here.  Send them a donation to the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action HERE
  • Become a member of a local or regional gun rights organization that is making a difference in your region.  For those in Illinois, that would be Guns Save Life or the Illinois State Rifle Association.  This isn’t a “join and forget about it”, although that’s better than doing nothing.  This is a “join and participate” endeavor spreading the truth about the benefits of firearm ownership at the grassroots level, educating your neighbors, family and friends.
  • Join a local range.  Yes, even if you have a place to shoot.  If we don’t have places for people to shoot and become proficient in the safe use of guns, we’ll have fewer gun owners and our freedom will die with us.  Join a local range and become active and help them grow and improve what will become YOUR facility after you join.
  • Take some training.  If you’ve never had formal training in the proper use of guns, you don’t even know what you don’t know.  Take an NRA class or two.  You won’t be a high-speed, low-drag special operations warrior afterwards, but you will have a solid foundation to build your future learning upon.  You *will* be a trained expert on safety after an NRA class or two and you can share safety with your family, neighbors and friends to help make them safe around guns.  You’ll also have the fundamentals of the effective use of guns and if you’ve taken the NRA Personal Protection in the Home course, you’ll also have learned the fundamentals of the judicious use of deadly force.

If you do these four things, you’re strong medicine towards the cure for the gun control disease.   If you do these things, you help ensure you and your children and grandchildren will live in a safer country where they can protect themselves from criminal violence.

This also means George Soros has to dig a little deeper in his pocket to pay more people to advocate for restrictions on our civil rights using fear and emotions.

We have truth and freedom on our side, along with hundreds of thousands, if not millions of gun owners doing the four things listed above.  Join us if you haven’t already.  It feels good making a difference in the cause of freedom!

And, despite what the mainstream media would have you believe, we’re winning this fight.

  1. Remember the only reason Diane came to power was because of a gun that killed the mayor of San Francisco. She is an ungrateful BITCH. Guns got her into power! Now she wants to in act laws that she will be exempt from.

    1. Remember, that Diane Feinstein who doesn’t think we should be allowed to have any guns, currently has a concealed carry license in California. Evidently she believes she is better than the rest of us poor uneducated peasants she looks down on.

  2. I would add one more.. on your next range outing, INVITE SOMEONE NEW WITH YOU. Bring one. Take a niece or nephew. Let THEM have the fun, offer your skills in having them lean to shoot safely. And for God’s sake, do NOT hand them a 454 or 500 SW to start, then scare them off!!

Start with 22s, lots of them, let them advance to larger calibers as they become more comfortable. Take a cell phone pic of them with their target or favorite gun if possible. When youre done, BUY THEM LUNCH! Lots of things cant be shared over two pairs of earmuffs, but afterward its a good time to share why you like shooting, and how important it is to all of us.

I have done this exact thing and do no less than once per year. My success is listed in the novicies I took shooting now calling me and asking to go again. Get off your buns and get active!!

  3. Old man is my hero.

He knows what this is all about! Now pass it on with your friends, figuratively and LITERALLY.

Let’s consider the federal government enacts a similar ban within the next two years on semi-automatic firearms with detachable magazines. This could either be through an Executive Order or by some rushed piece of legislation on the Hill. Given our currently broken system of checks and balances, anything is possible. It wouldn’t even take a new emergency to initiate it.

Let’s go through this step by step in more detail:

    1. A federal ban on modern military style semi-automatic firearms that accept high capacity detachable magazines is put into effect. It’s irrelevant which branch of government initiates this.

    2. Owners of many other types of firearms are completely unaffected by the federal ban. Owners of over-under shotguns, bolt-actions, and lever actions breath a sigh of relief and as usual don’t protest what doesn’t affect them. Certain Second Amendment, hunting, sporting groups and the political candidates they support are pacified behind the scenes by the current administration with promises that there won’t be any bans on ammunition. Furthermore, owners of M1 Garands, Browning BARs, Remington 7400s, SKSs, 1911 pistols, etc. quickly learn that their weapons are specifically exempted from the federal ban by name on a separate list.

    3. The ban is immediately challenged by some Second Amendment groups, but it’s upheld by the SCOTUS. As far as the legal system is concerned (and therefore law enforcement on the street), that’s the final word on the matter.

    4. There is a 1 year grace period to turn in banned weapons without consequences and receive generous federal income tax vouchers. Yes, the fedgov just prints the vouchers and we already know that they don’t care about certain kinds of spending. Besides, they may not have to pay the final bill as part of a long-term endgame.

    5. Banned firearms disappear from public shooting ranges, events, stores, etc. as owners of those venues (and their banks and insurers) scramble to comply with the new law and let users of such weapons know they are no longer welcome. Sales of PVC pipe, shovels, and camping gear increase in the short-term.

    6. A few people who make it a point after the grace period to publicly use or display their banned weapons at public shooting ranges, hold armed (though unloaded) rallies, or otherwise acknowledge their blatant disregard of the ban via the traditional mass media and/or internet are immediately arrested. These arrests rarely result in bloodshed. For the most part, though, the arrests involve lone individuals and some scattered semi-organized groups consisting of no more than a few dozen people. In fact, when it comes to apprehending the members of groups, most of the arrests occur after the members have gone home. If there is any violence, media coverage amounts to little more than a few seconds on local TV. Blogs which attempt to cover incidents of violence and/or heavy-handed actions by the government are frequently inaccessible due to mysterious technical issues or are removed altogether by ISPs due to the content allegedly “violating terms of service”.

    7. Banned weapons are found during searches at traffic stops or in homes when other crimes are investigated, but their discovery is only by chance. This rarely results in violence. The possession of the banned weapon(s) will still result in additional charges, but local media coverage is no more than a short blurb. There is little more than an additional trickle of cases in the legal system and non-violent possessors of banned weapons end up in minimum security work camps in wilderness areas. There are no real horror stories of “gulags for gun-owners” in the first few years after the initial ban.

    8. Various law enforcement agencies (local/state/federal) offer payments to people who turn in anyone in possession of banned weapons. People are most frequently turned in by former spouses followed in order of greatest to least by estranged biological children, step-children, extended family members, former friends, and unemployed gun shop employees. A small cottage industry develops as total strangers trawl internet archives looking for posts and pictures and make reports on people who had once owned banned weapons back when they were still legal. In demographically sensitive areas, the feds allow some local and state non-profit groups to pilot no-questions-asked post-grace period amnesty turn-ins. Once again generous vouchers are offered to those who participate, but this time they may be exchanged for hard goods rather than a mere tax abatement. The majority of banned guns are removed from their original owners while they are out of the house. They have no one to report the loss to, of course. A combination of public and private grants fund both the government reward and non-profit amnesty programs. This becomes a great tax write-off for rich individuals and corporations.

    9. There are no neighborhood-by-neighborhood house-to-house searches for banned weapons. However, data which models social groups is always updated to monitor various scenarios of concern to the elite. Spikes in the number of banned weapons in a particular geographic area is noted for additional analysis and potential intervention. In the meantime, the vast majority of the American people feel absolutely no additional infringement on their liberties as a result of the gun ban. And unless specifically reported by an informer, even individuals who were known to possess banned weapons in the past are not singled out for a search by law enforcement.

I’m sure it’s abundantly clear that I don’t see the potential for some sort of new revolution or even a mass uprising based on this one gun ban alone. All too often, the staunch defenders of the Second Amendment (and I am one of them) like to cite the British attempt to confiscate arms on April 19th as the spark which lit the fire of the American Revolution. The real history is far more complicated than that one event. We have to look back at the colonial time with all the different political and economic problems going on before we begin to get even the foggiest notion of everything that was brewing. Then like now, there are many other social factors which would have to boil over simultaneously before another revolution would flare up in this country.

As it stands now, the gun ban scenario could be put into place with little actual resistance from the American people. The real problem the DC elites would face is the possibility of a governor and a state government taking a public stand against them on the gun ban at this time. Such open defiance now would force the elite to play the game without all their cards in hand just yet.

  5. And what is this dear lady and her fellow travelers going to do when hundreds of thousands of legal gun owners pay no attention to this edict?(if it passes) There are many books out there on the subject of hiding things/guns and without a doubt guns are going into hiding if things get to be looking blacker. Remember, tho, that there are people who know how to look for hidden guns. (The British had plenty of on the job training in Ireland but they still didn’t find even half of em) And maybe we should practice with knife fighting or how to wield a machete. No doubt..interesting times are ahead. Remember Lexington and Concord.

  6. go to whitehouse.gov and sign the petition to impeach feinstein, has 15,888 signatures as of 12/29/12. another one has deport perice morgan, (another 2nd. amend. hater)

    1. IMPEACH FEINSTEIN, SHE’S A TRAITOR AND DISLOYAL TO Our Country. Hitler registered all guns then confication followed, you know that outcome.

  7. Let me offer another scenario to Tracked and friends…

    Hypothetical here, of course.

Perhaps some of the III% will identify some of the fed, state or local “law enforcement” officers violating their oath to uphold the Constitution.

Obviously, going up against a gang of rogue cops acting on behalf of tyrants would meet their end rather quickly.

However, if these gun owners identify said officers’ home addresses, those are soft targets, sort of like gun owners are soft targets to gangs of oath-violating, former civil servants with armored personnel carriers, FLIR, and all the fancy toys modern technology has given us.

Rebellion is not a clean and neat affair.

And as the old expression goes, sometimes the tree of liberty needs to be watered with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
