Mid-Term Election was of course held on Tuesday, and all the announcements of Democrat wave victories were over by Wednesday.

Right on time, by Thursday, several Democrats were quoted about wanting nationwide gun registration and gun control coming back as top agendas.

Others talked immediately about re-initiating lawfare against Trump and his administration after feeling he unfairly targeted their party members engaged in frauds… round and round.

All of the conservatives have been amazed by the liberal and socialist elections, but of course at the federal level many promises have been made which cannot possibly be kept and Trump still has 2 yrs in office and Veto power. It is just politics. Nothing new there. (When does all the free commie promised stuff show up? Asking for a friend.)

Back to this week, by Thursday I got calls advising local gun stores have already been inundated with concerned citizens seeking ammunition sales. Mind you this is only 24 hours after the election results were published!

Today, I got additional calls and made some contacts at my local gun shops today (Friday) and confirmed they have been swamped by customers post-election buying ammunition.

Also, those customers are buying large amounts of ammo instead of a normal one or two box purchase.

The big demand items? As you would anticipate- 9mm and .223, followed by 22LR. (I am always amazed by the demand for .22 LR in these situations. It is not a self-defense round.)

This is all my unofficial anecdotal survey- only slightly better than a rumor about Ferris Buehler being really sick, so take it for what it is worth. I asked AI to do a search about ammo sales and it came back and said there may be some local runs, but no announcements have been seen by any of the industry suppliers.

If you need some ammo, you better get out there soon and see for yourself. Demand will eat up all the on the shelf boxes, and replacement orders will get an automatic price increase and then there will be a “shortage of ammunition.”

Been there, done that. Got the T-shirt.

The last ammo shortage ran from 2020-2022. You may recall it was tough times and when the ammo ran short the price per box usually doubled in price. Ordinary 9mm practice ammo went from about $12 a box to often as much as $30 a box.

Back then people were concerned just before and after the elections thinking Democrats would win and limit guns and ammo with stricter laws. Also, COVID was going on. There was a lot of concern about the future of America at that time. Record purchases of ammo created a shortage and manufacturer bottlenecks. Prices had to go up.

Ammo stores caught up about a year later and prices started coming down in 2024. Still higher than pre-2020 prices, but better. 9mm came back down to about $14-$16 a box.

Where have we seen this before? Oh yes, in 2016 when the media promised Hillary Clinton would be coronated as the next president. 2012-2014 following the Sandy Hook shooting and high priority gun control debates, and from 2008-2010 following the Obama election.

If you need it go now. First the 9mm, .223 and 22LR will be scooped up, then some rifle rounds like .45 ACP, .308 and even shotgun shells will be next. Reloading supplies like primers, powder and bullets will also dry up (If you need primers, shouldn’t you have stocked up after the last time they ran out and doubled in price? I remember when retailers would only sell you one tray of 100 primers instead of a box of 1000.)

Why are people so concerned? Well it is not because of a fanciful “Civil War” scenario you might hear about in the media. It is because they fear additional restrictions and taxes on legally purchased ammunition by Democrat legislation. Simple.

There were no upheavals or riots held by Republicans after the mid-term elections. They had already been up too late watching the election results… and had to get up and go to work the next morning.

No time for a Civil War when you have to get the kids up, fed and off to school the next morning, and you did not want to be late to work. Socialism wasn’t going to pay your bills for you.

If there is a “Civil War” can I just bring some potato salad or the chips?
