Guns Save Life had a busy September.

The site logged 281,200 views and 262,700 visitors — up 390% and 411% from the month before. A couple of days cleared 40,000 views. A surprising share of that traffic is coming from China. Make of that what you will.

The dashboard shows 27 comments, down 25%. We tightened comment settings after a run of abusive posts from bad actors (and a few actresses). We’re still looking for the right balance between open discussion and keeping the trolls out.

More posts are on the way. In the meantime, take a look around — and keep looking.

Illinois does not stand still, and neither should you. A bill can move, a court can rule, a prosecutor can invent a new theory of “assault weapon,” and a local board can quietly tighten the screws on ranges, dealers, or carry. If you check the site once a month, you are reading last month’s fight. The people who show up daily are the ones who see the pattern while there is still time to do something about it.

That is what GunsSaveLife.com is for. Legislative tracking. Court updates. Defensive gun uses the Chicago media will not touch. Practical pieces on carry, home defense, and staying out of trouble after a justified shooting. The tagline is not a slogan. We defend your right to defend yourself — and the site is where that work shows up between meetings.

Then there is GunNews. Members get it in the mailbox every month, and each issue is also posted for download. It is the paper the rest of the Illinois press will not print: unfiltered reporting on what Springfield is doing to your rights, what is working in self-defense cases, and what armed citizens actually need to know before the next bad day. One issue can change how you carry, how you store a gun, how you talk to your kids, and how you vote. Reading it once and setting it aside is how people get surprised. Reading it, then checking the site through the month, is how you stay ahead of the surprise.

Membership is $40 a year — about the price of a box of decent defensive ammo. That buys GunNews at your door, a voice in the fight at the state and local level, access to GSL’s legal defense fund if you are hit with an improper gun-related arrest, and discounts on legal defense coverage from the major providers. It also buys a seat at the table. Chapters meet across the state — Chicagoland, Peoria, Decatur, Quincy, and more — with real speakers, real food, gun drawings, and no filter. Show up once and you will leave sharper and a lot less alone.

The traffic numbers say people are already looking. The question is whether you are in the fight or just reading about it.
