So a 19-time convicted felon stabbed his buddy on a CTA train in 2022. The friend died.

A 19-time convicted felon was sentenced on Thursday to 12 years in prison for stabbing an acquaintance to death aboard a Blue Line train in the Loop. Travis Cook, 56, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of second-degree murder with provocation in exchange for the sentence from Judge James Novy.
Prosecutors said Cook, 56, repeatedly stabbed and slashed 43-year-old Nicholas Osthimer as their train traveled between the Clinton and LaSalle stations on May 23, 2022.
Illinois badly needs a “three strikes and you’re out” law. And not “out” as in on the streets victimizing others. Out as in you’re out of society for generations.
So he murders a man on the Blue Line CTA train and pleads it down to some BS charge, and between time served and day-for-day good behavior bonuses, he’ll be out stabbing and slashing people again by the summer of 2027.
Back in the so-called Wild West, which wasn’t so wild, if you killed a man, they killed you back. Maybe that’s why they didn’t have much crime.
But Democrat Illinois politicians running this state prefer no cash bail, and criminal “justice” reform.
In the meantime, Travis Cook should be the poster child for crime without consequences for the residents of Chicago. It’s a big reason why criminals are so emboldened.
