Wreaths Across America is a big deal, folks.   One of our members, Pastor Steve Holden, is among the leadership for Wreaths Across America at Camp Butler National Cemetery.  This Saturday they need volunteers to help decorate the veteran gravesites at Camp Butler.

Here’s more about it.

It’s growing too.  It’s gone from a few thousand the first year to pushing close to two million today across America.

Bring your kids and grandkids.  The mission is to remember, honor and teach the next generation that freedom isn’t free.

Here’s some footage of the trucks filled with wreaths from New Jersey…

Back to Springfield.

The event starts around 11, but they urge folks to get there at 9 or before to get better parking.  Dress appropriately for the weather.

From the WAA website:

Remember the fallen. Honor those who serve. Teach the next generation the value of freedom. It’s the mission of Wreaths Across America. You can join us by sponsoring a wreath, volunteering or partnering with us on National Wreaths Across America Day and every day.

This year, National Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Join the more than two million volunteers and supporters who will gather to Remember, Honor and Teach at more than 4,600 participating locations in all 50 states, at sea and abroad.

2024 Theme: Live With Purpose

“Over the course of the last year, and then especially on the escort to Arlington last December, I listened to people who had gone through great adversity, and they’d taken that adversity and turned it around as a call to action to spend the rest of their lives making sure that every day was meaningful and that they lived with purpose.”
