He was a refugee brought in from Benghazi.
He was arrested last week for dragging his 14-year-old daughter out of her school by her hair and beating her for not wearing a hijab in public.
(Columbia Tribune) – Columbia police on Wednesday arrested a 53-year-old man who allegedly pulled a teenage family member out of Hickman High School by her hair and slapped her.
Police re-sponded at 3 p.m. Tuesday to the school, 1104 N. Providence Road, for a child abuse call, Officer Latisha Stroer said in an email. Youssif Z. Omar was at the school and noticed a 14-year-old female family member was not wearing a hijab, a traditional headscarf that some Muslim women wear. Omar became irate, Stroer said, grabbed the girl “very violently by the hair” and pulled her outside and down a flight of stairs.
The female in question has to learn how to behave too. I’m assuming she’s a minor who he’s supporting, of course, otherwise pop might have something to say to him. For a Muslim girl to forget that Hijab is a very serious infraction. When she’s supporting herself and living under her own roof, she can do as she likes. Otherwise, she has to respect her parents. I hope they teach him to restrain his temper next time, but she isn’t blameless here.

I agree with you. It’s a more extreme version of what many of our parents did to us. Corporal punishment was common a generation ago. Also, when you consider the culture, not wearing the Hijab is equivalent to an American teen going naked to school. The Hijab should have been on. She’s still a minor.
