With over 5% of the American population possessing carry licenses – or not needing them to carry a concealed firearm, there’s inevitably going to be plenty of cases where they use their defensive tool to thwart criminal attack.

A few of these cases even make it into the mainstream media.

Crosby, Texas:

A thirty-something woman was sitting in her driver’s seat while gassing her car up when a mope opened her passenger door and sat down in the passenger seat, demanding her purse.

What the perpetrator didn’t know was that the woman was a concealed carry license holder.

The Houston Chronicle reported that the woman reached into her purse, produced her gun and shot the miscreant in the shoulder.

Sensing this situation wasn’t going to end well, our would-be robber decided to flee the area PDQ, where he collapsed after a short sprint.

When he gets out of the hospital, he faces arrest on aggravated robbery charges.

Tampa, FL:

Fox 13 reported on a couple who were leaving a restaurant when two 17-year-old would-be rocket scientists ran towards them from the bushes, pointing a gun at them.  The young hoodlums, Reginald Smith and Jeremiah Walker, demanded their wallets and phones.

The victims complied, however the male half drew his own gun and fired as Reginald Smith pointed the gun at the man’s date as she ran back towards the restaurant.  Our young rocket scientists, with their keen intellect, sensed a sudden and profound failure in their money-making venture.  They promptly dropped the loot (and even their “gun”) and fled the scene.

Reginald, with a jacked up shin thanks to some ballistic therapy, couldn’t run so well and police caught up with him pretty quickly.  His gun turned out to be an airsoft pistol.  His partner who left him at the scene like the brave little coward he was, later turned himself in.
