Yes, we love Chuck’s Guns in Riverdale.
And you should too!
They’ve stood in the face of a dozen protests or more over the years from anti-gun zealots from Jesse Jackson to Father “Snuffy” Pfleger.
This Saturday, they are facing another onslaught, this time organized by the Brady Campaign for Relevance. The Brady Campaign national leadership is slated to have a presence at the event, and they are bringing a rent-a-mob to blockade the store to prevent customers from entering the store.
Yes, it should be fun.
Chuck’s Guns
14310 S Indiana Ave
Riverdale, IL 60827
Fun starts at 10am. We recommend getting there by 9:00 or 9:30 to get a lay of the land (and decent parking).
Police are going to be there, but Chuck’s has invited Guns Save Life, the ISRA and other gun rights folks to a counter-demonstration. There is free range time, free food and a party-like atmosphere on tap for freedom’s defenders.
John Riggio, owner of Chuck’s, has been on the phone with me more than once about this event. He’s rolling out the welcome wagon as a way to say “thanks” to the gun rights people who repeatedly show up to defend his store from the never-ending onslaught of anti-gun agitators.
“It’s the least we can do to say thanks,” he told me today. “We appreciate the support.”
Legal considerations: #1 CCW is legal!
One of the topics Mr. Riggio wanted to bring to my attention was legal considerations for carrying this Saturday.
The Brady Campaign for Relevance has a permit application in for a special event Saturday. If granted, that means their participants will be barred from CCW. As though that would stop Father Pfleger’s bodyguards, right?
There’s also going to be a lot fenced off for the anti-gunners to set up their sound system and tables. That area will be a “no carry” zone as well. That’s fine.

As counter-demonstrators, the good guys are not prohibited from carrying. And you’re welcome to heckle the Bradybots from outside the snowfence to your heart’s content. Or, if you’re not packing, you can go inside the snowfence and “engage” with the opposition.
Bring your American flags and if you’re feeling frisky, bring your electronic bullhorn as well.
Here’s why:
At the event in 2014, the Bradybots used megaphones to shout into the face of pro-gun folks. Remember Barack Obama’s advice: If they push you, push back twice as hard.
Here are some sign ideas as well:
Remember, extremism in pursuit of liberty is no vice.
