Springfield, IL (GSL) – Gun control hucksters have advanced two major pieces of legislation they wish to inflict upon Illinois residents.  Both passed out of committee, moving closer to passage.

Both bills have major flaws.  The Lethal Violence Order of Protection bill (HB 2354) would allow a judge to strip a gun owner of his or her guns without due process.  The bill ignores federal court precedent set in the Heller, McDonald and Ezell decisions.   Sponsors claim the bill’s “under penalty of perjury” provisions protect gun owners, but we all know that conventional orders of protection are abused everyday in divorce cases.

The dealer licensing scheme (SB 1657) contains gun rationing for Illinoisans.  Under the bill, non-dealers are limited to no more than nine firearm transfers per year, period.  It also contains expensive and onerous business-killing provisions designed to drive gun shops out of business.

While the bill’s proponents claim that a handful of Illinois dealers provide the bulk of guns recovered at crime scenes, ATF’s data presents an entirely different picture.  Guns sold by Illinois dealers have a 13% greater “time to crime” on guns they sell when compared to gun dealers nationally.  No dealer wants to risk twenty years in the federal slammer under existing law to make a few bucks selling guns to bad guys.

Gun control advocates across America need a gun control legislative victory to keep their funding – and their jobs.  These national level groups have turned to the Prairie State to secure that much-needed win.  They see Illinois as a deep blue state; an answer to their prayers.

It’s up to us to stop them to save our children and families from this criminal-friendly legislation. Get active and engaged.  Help us protect your right to defend yourself!

    1. The Illinois liberals have no right to try to take away our 2nd Ammendment… just one more trick to try to bury what our fore father's set in stone for us.

  1. Please be thoughtful before taking rights away from gun owners you never know when you may need one of us to defend you in a time of need. Also criminals do not care about laws. Even if you took all the guns away criminals would still manage to get there hands on them and kill someone then we would have no defense against this atrocity. I am also an avid hunter and abide by all laws faithfully. I am asking that you do not take this away from me.

  2. Way to go boys ! keep it up and the only people left in this stae will be those with no where else to go . Not enough people moving out , you want more to go .

    1. I left IL in 2015 to escape this nonsense. Unfortunately though, this will eventually hit the national stage. The grabbers "tested" this in IL to see what happens. Once it is law, they plan to bring to the national stage. Trump needs to excellerate his pro gun orders!

I don't think SB1657 passed out of committee. The record shows it remains in Judiciary and the vote was postponed, with a deadline of April 7 to move it to the floor.

There was a groundswell of opponents to this one, including calls to action from IllinoisCarry, ISRA, and others.

  5. So, I'm finally getting around to actually APPLYING to carry my firearms legally.

I'm grievously troubled by the IDIOTS who drafted the ONLINE APPLICATION.

There are numerous warnings repeated throughout the application process warning that it is subject to penalties for perjury and assorted other felonies.

BUT THE APPLICATION FORM ITSELF CONTAINS QUESTIONS – WHICH YOU MUST ANSWER UNDER OATH AND SUBJECT TO PENALTIES FOR PERJURY – which are actually, legally, factually GIBBERISH!!!!!!!!!!!

    Take this for instance:

" Have your ever been adjudicated by a court as a mental defective or ordered by a court, board or authorized entity to an in-patient or out-patient mental health? "

    Have YOUR EVER?

    Have your WHAT ever?

in-patient or out-patient mental health WHAT????????????????????

mental health clinic? rapery? hamburger joint?

    What ASSHaT wrote this form?

That's not the only errors, and that's TWO GLARING (PERJURY) errors in ONE question!

    Here's another GIBBERISH-Y bit:

" Within the past 5 years (preceding the date of this application), have you been convicted or found guilty in this State or any other state of a misdemeanor involving the use or threat of physical or violent to any person? "

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN CONVICTED OF THE USE OR THREAT OF PHYSICAL OR VIOLENT TO ANY PERSON??????????????????????????

WHUFFUCK??????????????  Is ENGLISH no longer the official language of the Illinois STATE POLICE??????????????

HOW the fuck did you guys who have your concealed carry permits answer these GIBBERISHY questions UNDER THE PENALTY OF PERJURY???????

AND as long as this form has been promulgated for use online, how the hell have they got away with leaving these errors (submitted under penalty of PERJURY) in place???????????

    THIS IS DEPLORABLE!!

    SUGGESTIONS?

I'M TEMPTED TO FILE SUIT, FORCING A CHANGE TO THE FORM AND INVALIDATING ANY PERMITS ISSUED UNDER THIS GIBBERISH.

  6. A fella can't let his thumb off these Chicagoland idiots long enough to take a dump, I'm telling you.  I sincerely hope the governor is one of us, not one of them.  I know "hope" is a pretty empty thing though.

  7. SB1657 did NOT pass out of committee. Not sure why this article says it did.  Sen Harmon didn't have enough votes, so it was postponed.

i've tried to post this twice but my comments remain in "awaiting moderation" status.
