Legal Insurrection has come across a YouTube video of a self-described veteran eloquently defending the Constitution at the recent anti-gun rally in Glenview, IL.

That rally blew up in the faces of organizers and this video shows one example of many of why it went so poorly for those opposed to the Constitution and the rights it enshrines and protects.

Kevin Tully is the Air Force veteran in the clip.  He comes in about  a minute into the video.  In it, he says:

Now, the thing I would like you to answer, sir. And I did go to war for this country….

And I went to war for your ability to have the First Amendment, to say what you stood up there and said today, to write what you want to write in your newspaper, and have whatever opinion you want to have. You can practice whatever religious freedoms you want. I would like you to answer the question, since you just said that one of the rights that I went to war over to defend, that is inalienable, to every American citizen. If this discussion was going on, about your First Amendment rights, would you still have the same opinion that we don’t need that any more either….

The threat of tyranny, today, is no less than at the turn of the century in 1900, in 1800, or in 1700!

Well worth the three minutes to watch him do such a fine job.

Hats off to you, sir.

And thank you to Legal Insurrection for identifying you and bringing this to our attention.

For what it’s worth, these same people tried to bring this grassroots anti-gun stuff down to Champaign.  ICHV’s new paid staff member, Nicole something-or-another organized their first meeting in Champaign, where they brought down many of those same faces we saw in Glenview.  She has done a fine job cementing their merry band of a less than a dozen zealots and do-gooders into irrelevancy.  It’s turned into a book club with about eight people showing up to discuss some book ranked 8xx,xxx on Amazon.

Go read additional stuff Legal Insurrection has after an interview with Tully.  Lots of good stuff there…

For instance:

As far as the New Trier Democrats and the way they addressed the crowd, “my impression of them is that they were very arrogant. I think Mr. Goodman needs to reflect on how he addresses people. His demeanor was such that he was an educated person, and we were just this side of baboons.”

“I was taught in the military that you don’t bring up a problem without at least one solution…my mother taught me, never bring yourself down to someone else’s level. Be well spoken, dress well; the best way to fight back is to be educated on the facts…stand up and take your place. The Founding Fathers guaranteed you the right that you’d be heard.”

Again, hats off to Kevin Tully.

Kevin, if you’re reading, contact me at templar223 at comcast.net.  I’ll buy you a GSL membership, sir.  Thank you for your service, both overseas and at that event!

  1. We all know academia is primarily run my liberals. So it should come as no surprise when we see such blatant anti-America sentiments displayed as we see here.
Among the top 35 universities, only one conservative is scheduled to speak this year compared to 29 liberals. Sixteen Obama administration officials and appointees will speak, more than all the conservatives combined.

Fight for your rights patriots, or soon they will be all but gone.

“The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution.” -Thomas Jefferson, Third President of the United States

  2. I agree with Mr. Miller that needs to be on National TV. Like the response of the crowd also. Excellent video.
