The goblin killed on Halloween by a licensed concealed carrier wasn’t your average “dindu nuffin”, but his family is still cryin’ the blues to the media.

55-year-old Reginald Gildersleeve was shot dead by a card-carrying good guy at a currency exchange and corner market after he started taking a 17-year-old female employee to another part of the story.  He was armed with a realistic looking “toy” gun, that some have said was an airsoft gun.

He also had not five prior arrests.  Not ten prior arrests.

Not twenty prior arrests.

Not thirty prior arrests.

Not forty prior arrests.

But over fifty.  Including an armed robbery in 2012 that was not prosecuted by Cook County States Attorney Anita Alvarez’s office.

We’ve been illustrating how violent criminals aren’t prosecuted and imprisoned in Illinois – especially Cook County – leaving these individuals like Gildersleeve with dozens of arrests to prey upon the local residents.

Reginald Gildersleeve was a violent criminal predator.  He was old enough that he should have known better, but he just couldn’t help himself.  And his family kept him “protected” from the authorities for his vicious crimes against his neighbors.  With friends like Gildersleeve and his family, who needs enemies, right?

And now his dysfunctional family is blaming not themselves or Reginald for his career criminal actions, but everyone else.  They claim they are the victim of an untrained concealed carry licenseholder that shot their ne’er-do-well relative dead in that store to save innocent life from death or great bodily injury (and rape is ‘great bodily injury’).

The family, quoted prominently in a “poor Reginald” story in the Tribune (no hot link as they are hiding the story behind a paywall, easily defeated by turning off Javascript on the Tribune website):

Gildersleeve’s stepson told reporters Sunday that he doubted the police account that Gildersleeve was shot while attempting to rob the store.

“Something doesn’t seem right,” said Igbinosa Oronsaye, whose mother was married to Gildersleeve. “Reggie doesn’t even own a gun. He couldn’t own a gun if he wanted to.”

That’s for sure.  With a host of priors, including many for violent crimes, he couldn’t legally be near a gun, or buy one at a store or even a gun show, thanks to Illinois’ existing extensive background check system.

But he went out and found himself a realistic-looking gun with no problems, by hook or by crook.

Oronsaye said he wasn’t convinced the shooter acted properly.

Oh really, Professor Oronsaye?

“Some people don’t actually know how to use guns,” he said. “They go to firing ranges, but it’s not the same as a bullet going into someone’s body, it’s not the same as a bullet going into flesh. They should be able to wound first, kill next. He didn’t deserve to get shot multiple times.

Oronsaye illustrates for the world that he’s an ignorant fool.  As for Mr. Scumbag robber not deserving to get shot multiple times?  If he had been trick or treating with his grandkids and been a productive, decent human being instead of a career violent felon, then maybe he wouldn’t have gotten perforated multiple times while taking a 17-year-old to another part of the store – potentially to rape her or worse.

“You just took a brother, you just took a father from a lot of people. Somebody’s got to answer for that.

Hey, Mr. “Scumbag” Oronsaye:  We would give the concealed carrier a Certificate of Appreciation if we had his name and address.  We would tell him, “Sorry this had to happen to you, but we are thankful you are okay.  If there’s anything we can do in this troubling time for you, let us know.  Oh yeah, do you need a replacement gun?  Nice shooting, by the way.  Thank you for saving innocent life, including your own.”

And the comments at the Trib story are just golden and delicious, so we are told, but we can’t access them.

Feel free to add the best ones to comments.

  1. ““Some people don’t actually know how to use guns,” he said.”

I’d say the CCW man demonstrated a high degree of aptitude using his gun.

I’d also say that Mr. ObungoTumTube-o doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground.

“With friends like Gildersleeve and his family, who needs enemies, right?”

    Yep.

    But “BLACK LIVES MATTER”!

    All good people lives matter.

All others? Like Reginald Gildersleeve? Flush ’em. They’re just oxygen thieves.

  2. So, how many times is the right number?
If it’s one round per prior, the citizen should have had something belt-fed.

  3. Even IF this was his first armed robbery, how much is a bystander supposed to take? His life was threatened, he responded legally, and Mr. Dindu Nuffins reaps what he sowed. To freaking bad…

  4. “SWBurbs
@Greg Kane No, don’t put words into my mouth. But where does it end? If the perp was threatening the clerk at knife point, should the same lethal force have been used? What about a baseball bat? What about “I’m going to beat the snot out of you”? Someone could feel that their life was threatened by that, especially a female employee. ”

YES YES YES YES YES YES, ALWAYS YES!! IF you choose to threaten the liberty of another human being you should always do so with the clear understanding that you may very well be met with lethal force. ANY harm to another human being whatsoever is justification for any level of response, up to and including lethal force.

  5. I have a strong feeling that the family of the employee does not feel that Mr. Gildersleeve was shot too many times. To the wonderful citizen that handled this matter: Thank you. I’m sorry you went through this and hope you are doing well. I wish we could reimburse you for your ammo.

    1. I just read that article..No where did I see the Newpaper say he was a ‘victim’ nor did the article portray him as a ‘victim’, It did however give his criminal Background. They quoted the Family comments.

    2. Its time for the court systems to tell these families to sit down and shut up. There are consequences to every action, and he paid them with his wrong doing. Doesn’t matter what color a person is.

  6. Dear Shitbird family:

    The world owes you nothing.

Given that your family doesn’t understand right from wrong, all of you can go drown in a mud puddle. We wouldn’t care and the world would be a better place for it.

  7. “By FRANK MAIN Chicago Sun-Times Suspected robber Reginald Gildersleeve was carrying a paintball gun when a customer with a concealed carry permit shot him to death in a grocery store on the Southwest Side, Chicago Police said Monday. ”

    A paintball gun?

That sucks balls for him, doesn’t it.

Oh wait. No, it doesn’t suck. It blows.

    Good shoot x100.

Robber guy should have been in prison or in the ground already. Can’t imagine his spawn fell far from the tree if his relative’s comments are any clue of the family’s usefulness to society.
