Someone should ask Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart about his priorities.

He’s got the manpower and resources to invest in a months-long investigation that has culminated in a handful of arrests for simple prostitution and soliciting prostitution while forty-five people have been shot and thirteen people have been murdered in the first three days of September in Chicago, the largest city in Dart’s jurisdiction.

In case you think the last three days are an aberration, this past week, Chicago’s criminals have racked up 68 shootings and 17 homicides.  It’s almost as if Chicago were the nation’s largest open-air shooting range.

Getting back to Tom Dart.  He’s featured prominently in a Time Magazine feature story on a nationwide campaign by law enforcement agencies to crack down on prostitution listings at “Backpage.com”.

(Time – warning video autoplays) – A coalition of dozens of law enforcement agencies arrested more than 1,000 pimps and sex buyers in a summer-long series of prostitution stings.

The months-long annual sting, now known as the National Johns Suppression Initiative, was led by Sheriff Tom Dart of Cook County, Il. A total of 39 law enforcement agencies across 18 states arrested 961 men trying to buy sex and 71 pimps or traffickers, more than in any of his previous stings.

About two-fifths of the arrests stemmed from online prostitution ads, and 98% of those ads were placed on Backpage.com, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office. In the four years since the annual sting began, more than 4,000 sex buyers and traffickers have been arrested (it used to be called the National Day of Johns).

Hopefully other jurisdictions have a better sense of priorities.  Let’s see:  invest manpower and resources in cracking down on hookers and johns, or invest manpower and resources in solving shootings and homicides in your jurisdiction?  Especially when local law enforcement is solving only about 20% of homicides.

Which criminal activity would you choose to crack down on?

Tom Dart has made his decision clear:  He is chasing internet prostitution cases.  Meanwhile, his constituents are literally dying all around him from criminal violence.

It’s all about priorities.  Obviously.

  1. Chicago says it needs more gun laws. Just this week in crook county a man charged with 55 counts of buying guns with fake identification and dealing them without a license was sentenced: 1 year probation. The judge said he’s been on good behavior and is working on his rap career. I swear to God, you can’t make this shyt up. story at SCC.com

    1. …bet he didn’t have a FOID card, and no FFL, both of which are felonys punishable by 10 years in prison for eack count, ….but he is jus’ tryin’ to “turn his life aroun'”, all he needed was the dough from the illegal sales of said firearms…

  2. The banger can run faster than the ho. So guess who gets caught. Of course the banger is wearing Nikes that he either stole or our tax dollars bought and the poor ho has those spikey high heels on. It’s simple dynamics.

  3. The good people of Chicago deserve better.

The bad people? They got the government they deserve.

  4. They elected these clowns, now they have to suffer the consequences. Good people don’t live in these Liberal Utopian Hell holes, they move because of these elected azzholz.

  5. Chicago has had a crime problem for years but after calm was restored the crime and violence rates would go down. But after the passage the FOID card law and the 68GCA that changed. Crime and violence remained higher than in pre-FOID card and 68GCA days.

Several years ago I wrote a letter to my state reps explaining how crime and violence in Chicago was made worse after the passage of the FOID card law and 1968 gun control act.

Know one cared even thought I showed them the facts.

Until Chicago decides to grow up and restore the checks and balance between the people and the bad guys crime and violence will never change

  6. I read today that Chicago’s summer crime wave seems to keep right on going.

I guess all those Illegal immigrants gang bangers seem to be sorting out their turf.

I also read that good ole Rahm wants to raise property taxes on the (dumb) good people of Chicago.

Got to keep funding that sanctuary City of Chicago now don’t we!
