Two men were shot dead right there in this Austin neighborhood in Chicago.

With a total of 11 homicides and 39 additional people shot and wounded – just since last Sunday, plenty of Chicago residents are on edge about what the summer has in store.  One reverend even admitted that “It’s going to be a long, hot summer.”

Indeed.  At the rate Chicago’s criminal class is going, they will have racked up a quarter of Chicago’s homicides for the year in just this past week!

Community activists on it though. (Ahem.)

They’re demanding a meeting with Chicago Police’s head honcho “to come up with solutions”.

Second City Cop chalked it up to “dumb ideas” and suggested they hold a mirror up to the community to find the answers to that community’s problems.

We believe that blaming the gun instead of the people wielding them is terribly disingenuous and unproductive.  Thugs are going to thug.

And the only thing that stops bad people with evil in their hearts is a good guy with a gun.

Help is on the way.

With that in mind, Guns Save Life is bringing its exciting, energetic and vibrant meetings up to Chicago in the coming months (weeks?).  We’re going to help Chicago’s gun owners to educate their friends, neighbors and communities on the proven, life-saving benefits 0f firearms ownership for the good guys.  We are going to help put guns in the hands of good people in Chicago.  We’re going to help people not be afraid to step outside of their homes in Chicago by showing them how to protect and defend themselves from predators that today roam the streets.

Good guys with guns are the only thing that stops bad guys intent on harming innocents.  As Colt Firearms advertisements used to say, Abe Lincoln may have freed all men, but Sam Colt made them equal“.

While we understand there’s a lot of “snitches get stitches” attitudes among many in the big city, however, when the law-abiding good citizens in those communities have a means to stop violent criminal predators who attempt to enforce the old “snitches get stitches” meme among the decent people, the motto will become “thugs get slugs”.

It’s happening in Detroit, as a large number of the people turning up dead are shot in self-defense by armed, law-abiding citizens who own guns – and who are no longer willing to be cowed by criminal thugs.

Some will say, “Oh my gosh!  We don’t need more guns!  It’ll lead to more killing!”

Well, our response is that if that community hasn’t raised its children properly, then more killing of violent criminal predators might be in order in the short term to thin the herd of bad guys.  However, in short order the remaining bad actors will either conform their behaviors to society’s norms or they too will assume room temperature.  In any event, the community will become safer as a result.

Community activists making demands without offering solutions aside from the same failed proposals that are proven failures (more gun laws, etc.) will not lower violent crime rates.

Good guys with guns, and the will to use them to stop criminals will.

“All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.”

  1. I think the good guys, with or w/o guns, should just pack up and leave town. There is no hope for the killing field called Chicago. Just look at Detroit. Is that hell hole getting any better, even with a few good guys with guns dispatching a few bad guys? Parts of Detroit are vacant wastelands, the end result of years of political corruption and crime. How far behind is Chicago? No, I believe the only solution is for the good guys to hightail it out of Chicago and let the city slide off into Lake Michigan taking the bad guys and politicians with it.

  2. Panzer:

    You raise a good point.

However, we’ve been up there for a number of events in recent months and there are *many* good people who do not want to leave or cannot leave because of jobs, family, or other community roots.

These people are hungry for gun rights activism, to help educate the roughly six million Chicagoland residents that guns are good, that gun ownership has proven benefits and that good guys with guns stop bad guy violent criminal predators.

So yes, I wouldn’t live in Chicago myself.

But our goal at Guns Save Life is to change attitudes to Chicago to make it a better place to live and a safe place to visit.

  3. A central meeting initially. Then split to north and south. If we have volunteers who can start a western suburbs meeting, we’d love to do that as well.
