It’s a short story in the NY Post, easily missed by most.

NYPD in training to combat potential ISIS attack

The NYPD has quietly spent the last six months making preparations for a potential ISIS assault in Manhattan, which police fear could be similar to the 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai, India, sources told The Post.

Cops have been trained to deal with coordinated bombings and shootings, as in the four-day terror assault that killed more than 160 people in Mumbai, the sources said.

Second City Cop, a Chicago cop’s blog, asks “Shouldn’t We Be Doing This?” in reaction to the story.

Mumbai was 10 shooters with basic-to-advanced military-type training, dropped off via inflatable speedboats, supplied with enough ammo and explosives to kill 164 people and wound over 300 over the course of 4 days. New York’s (and Chicago’s) waterfronts, subways, downtown, shopping destinations, etc are inviting targets. We’re sure SWAT has a plan, but SWAT isn’t the first responder in most cases. In a multi-shooter scenario with a motivated, well-supplied force, SWAT is only in one or two places at once. Six-to-ten two-man teams here might end with a body count to rival India’s.

Like New York City, Chicago, Illinois remains an extra-ripe for the picking target for a Mumbai-style terrorist attack by Muslim terrorists.  Like NYC, Chicago has few licensed civilians with guns, lots of waterfront easily accessible by boat, big crowds of sheeple at a host of public venues and big city visibility.

With right-to-carry being so new, there’s a paucity of concealed carry licensees to provide unexpected resistance to a Mumbai-style attack.  Even worse, especially in the Chicagoland area where range space and time was precious, many of the mandated CCW classes were minimalistic, to put it very kindly.  So even if some of those individuals actually carried their guns, they might be relying on luck to save them.

The good news is downstate Illinois won’t be seeing any Mumbai-style attacks where the bad guys come in on boats.  The bad news is they have these things called cars and vans which provide even better, more comfortable transportation, especially in inclement weather.

Carry your gun.

Don’t let your training end with your concealed carry class.  Be prudent.  Seek out more and better training.  A prudent man would never rely on luck to win a deadly fight – especially against a better trained adversary.

Practice your skills.  Carry your gun.

Be aware of your surroundings and stay safe, my friends.
