At Guns Save Life, we don't manipulate the public.  Instead, we want to help educate the people and help them understand the truth so that we will all be better, smarter citizens.

Two weeks ago, we helped promote a very successful gun rights rally in downtown Bloomington.  More recently, we've fired up the megaphone to spread the word about another spontaneous grassroots rally, this time in Decatur, IL.  They had more than four days to prepare – and Jim Owens and his merry band of patriots came through and then some with a YUGE gun rights rally in the Soy capital today.

Over 500 people turned out, lining over two blocks of downtown Decatur with flags, smiles and pro-gun messages for passersby.  Those driving by responded with lots of support and gave their support and energy back to the everyday Americans celebrating their God-given rights.

The laws of physics prevented your faithful scribe's attendance, but plenty of people have contacted me about it.  And the Decatur Herald and Review certainly attended.  The event scored lots of valuable real estate on the Herald and Review Website:

VIDEO: Hundreds gather in downtown Decatur for Second Amendment rally

DECATUR — Jim Owens said Americans' right to bear arms is under attack, and he was joined by about 200 others Sunday to support the Second Amendment at a rally in downtown Decatur.

They began gathering on the sidewalk outside of the Macon County Law Enforcement Center on South Franklin Street before the 1:30 p.m. start of the two-hour “Pro 2A Rally." The carried signs with messages such has “Guns Don’t Kill People; People Do” and “2A; Non-Negotiable.” They waved flags and saluted passing motorists who honked their horns in a cacophony of raucous support.

Yes, there's twenty-plus minutes of video at the H&R website, but I couldn't get it embedded here.

In short, Sunday proved a great day for freedom, the flag and firearms rights.

We know when we try to educate the public, we know there are a certain number of people who think we, as gun owners, are the bad guys.

Not so much.  We work to educate people, empower people and to encourage people to learn the truth.

It's not just about winning a debate.  It's about saving lives.  Guns save lives.  We know it.  We want other people to know it too.  Because someday, the life they save may not only be theirs, it may be ours.

Big, big kudos to Jim Owens and the rest of his team for exceptional work.  We're proud of what he's done for gun owners.

Mark your calendars now for Wednesday, April 25th for the Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day in Springfield!

  1. I made it to Decatur and glad of the fine weather and great company standing up for our Constitution! Thanks to all who could join us, WCIA glossed over the coverage but WAND did a good job of reporting in a positive way. God Bless America and all who support our founding documents.

    DLM.

  2. Didn't notice it anywhere in the News-Gazetter, either. It must be too much work for them.

    1. Hey, here's an idea, maybe we could have a rally in downtown Champaign in front of the News Gazzette building which also now houses WDWS radio.

Just an idea but seems like we need a rally in Champaign, Springfield will have IGOLD next month.

  3. Hey guys no wonder gun owners keep getting our butts handed to us in Illinois. Look at how many state races do not have a republican challenger. Yes they are in Chicago and the surrounding area. But come on NO ONE IS EVEN TRYING TO RUN FOR OFFICE!

Where is the Cook County Republicans

    https://ballotpedia.org/Illinois_House_of_Representatives_elections,_2018

Plus where is the ISRA States Voter guide. There are races with people in those races and I know next to nothing about them.

    1. You're welcome to run as a Republican in Michael Madigan's district.

Remember, the Chicago DEMOCRAT Machine owns Chicago.  In fact, in 2016, 14,800+ more votes were cast than there are registered voters in Chicago.

      John

    2. You know John, those were the recent "immigrants" (invaders) that are afraid of being deported that did not regester so they wouldn't get caught. Sanctuary city and all.

  4. Champaign  rally.   YES.    I ll surely try to make that one.  I am sorry I missed the others  !!
