Yes Virginia, a Glock AR-15 rifle does exist. After decades of rumors and wishes, the iconic Glock company has finally produced an AR-15 rifle. Unfortunately it is not being offered for sale in the United States yet, but it does in fact exist.

It is a bit late to the market, what with Colt first offering a civilian AR-15 63 years ago in 1963, but this one is a Glock. Glock holds several AR related patents, so industry insiders know it has been an ongoing project with the Austrian based manufacturer.

The rifle surfaced in Great Britain of all places, as the winner of a national police contract and is known as the GR-115.  It was selected following an extensive testing protocol as the new National Police Primary Carbine, and Glock won two contracts for the weapon. The rifle competed against other submitted rifles in both suppressed and unsuppressed testing, where it not only got the highest accuracy scores, but functioned… like a Glock.

Details and pictures are still sketchy at this point, and quite honestly it looks like… well… just a modern AR-15/M-4 Carbine.

Features include M‑LOK handguard with full‑angle attachment points, oversized trigger guard, Magpul stock, grip, and quick‑detach handguard interface, Magpul flip up sights, ambidextrous fire selector, mag catch, and bolt catch.  Suppressor compatible barrel lengths include 11.5″ and 14.75″.

Glock is not talking about the project yet, or if it will ever be offered in the U.S. It is not offered to civilians in the U.K., and is marketed only to law enforcement and the military. The rifle is designed by Glock Austria and purportedly is being built in Slovakia.

The two most notable items in the English version, list a polymer receiver and piston driven operating system (like the H+K 416 or Armalite AR-180).

Polymer is nothing new to Glock, so making a lightweight polymer receiver is not much of a surprise. American made polymer lowers have been on the market for years, and initial skepticism has been lowered when they did not break or fracture.

The gas piston systems are well known for their ability to run cleanly, which of course contributes to dependability. You know. Like a Glock.
